Abortion classified as murder if bill becomes law in Iowa

A group of Republican legislators has introduced legislation that would make all abortions illegal in Iowa and any doctor who performs an abortion in Iowa would face murder charges.

“What the bill does is it defines what a person is,” says Representative Tom Shaw, a Republican from Laurens who is the bill’s lead sponsor.

“We put it right underneath our murder statute. This is in keeping with Roe v Wade where Justice Blackman said that if the state ever defined the fetus to be a person, then, of course, it would have all the protections of the 14th amendment. ...”

“We just kind of sat down and thought, ‘We’re making this way too hard. We should be following what the Supreme Court said in their opinion,’” Shaw says. “And so the bill just merely defines who a person is and it defines a person from the moment of conception when the zygote is formed until natural death.”

A person IS a person, and abortion IS murder.

Kudoes to Representatives SHAW, HEARTSILL, ALONS, SCHULTZ, BACON, SHEETS, KOESTER, FRY, and SALMON. This is where the battle lines should have been drawn all along.

I’m happy to say that Tom Shaw is my state representative.

We couldn’t be happier with him.

If we can fill every office in American with folks like him this free republic will be restored and preserved.

Wisconsin is not without blame, too, concerning electing 0bama!

But, we now have a Republican Governor and we OWN the House and the Assembly, so we’re moving in the right direction. :)

It’s a shame that Terri Schiavo wasn’t recognized as a person. We all know that babies, disabled people, elderly people, and all other people are people. That we have to write a law legislating the definition is a sign of how far civilization has deteriorated.

My nephew is alive today because my sister had a life-saving abortion in 1987.

So will a pregnant woman have the right to kill in self-defense under this law?

Therein lies Dr. Seuss’s cognitive dissonance: He was a filthy, Marxist leaning Liberal who supported abortion, yet he somehow managed to write a children’s book that told us a “person’s a person no matter how small...”

Apparently, Dr. Seuss didn’t mean what he said nor say what he meant...

But your sister didn’t have a ‘life-saving abortion’.

She underwent a medical procedure to save her life: the unfortunate side-effect of which led to the death of her unborn child or children.

If her medical procedure could have been carried out without killing her child then I imagine she would have done so.

Pregnant women have the right to medical procedures to save their lives. They also retain the right to “kill in self-defense” - for instance if someone attacks them in the street.

However ‘self-defense’ would be a ludicrous way of describing the effects of an operation to deal with e.g. an ectopic pregnancy. ‘Heart-breaking necessity’ would be a better term.
