Reps. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas), Pete King (R-N.Y.) and more than two dozen Democrats have introduced legislation that would create a national nurse to work alongside the surgeon general.
The National Nurse Act, H.R. 485, would designate the chief nurse officer of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) as the "National Nurse for Public Health."
The bill would have the national nurse work alongside the surgeon general and "focus on health promotion, improving healthcare literacy, and reducing health disparities."
"As the first registered nurse in Congress, I know from experience how nurses play a critical role in health promotion and disease prevention," Johnson said in an announcement on her website.
"Chronic illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease threaten the health of so many Americans," she said. "The National Nurse for Public Health would raise awareness about what each of us can do to prevent illness while improving our own health and that of our families."
Today, Rear Adm. Kerry Paige Nesseler serves as the chief nurse officer of the U.S. Public Health Service. According to that agency, Nesseler "coordinates nursing professional affairs" for the Office of the Surgeon General and the Department of Health and Human Services, and "provides guidance and advice" to the surgeon general, the Nurse Professional Advisory Committee and nurses across the country on health issues.
Naughty Nurse Nanny State PING!
Naughty Nurse Nanny State PING!
Isn’t that special........
Dumocraps come up with another useless gubmint’ position. I guess the next stupid thing they come up with is “national receptionist” or “national anesthesiologist”...
I’d like to see a national wet nurse.
Consider this section in the Senate version of the bill; the setting up of community watch dogs that will monitor citizens for various health parameters. Read pages 382 - 393.
TITLE IQUALITY, AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AMERICANS pps 382 - 393
There is nothing at the link now because that was a Senate version of the bill before it passed. I haven't read the 2,000 pages of the ACA so I can't say that this section survived. Any bets?
Nurse Ratched.
Someone post the pic, plz. I’m on droid....
If I was younger, I’d definitely be trying to get on the Death Panel. That’s gotta be a gravy job - think of all the graft and corruption coming your way.

Maybe what they are trying to do is send info to the O-Phone holders....I would think the liability could be a problem, because....ANYTHING the gov't gets into it EFFS UP. They screwed up the food pyramid, cholesterol issues, etc. If the Nat'l Nurse is anything like what dieticians are like....oooohhhh boy.....
next, a surgeon genberal in every color, nurse in every color, then buttpirate surgeon generals and a dyke nurse, etc etc.
and we’ll pay them all in monopoly money.
Another useless government worker of big government. Like the Surgeon general does anything already. Next the Feds will want a National Nanny Leader. After that National Community Organizer Leader. Why not Chief Bottle washer, Toilet Inspector and Soft Drink Inspector. Big Government and largesse ideas.
Well hell, let’s have a National Candy Striper while we’re at it!
U.S. Public Health Service, the Surgeon General and the Department of Health and Human Services all need to go BYE BYE - along with federal departments of education, energy, environment and a whole host of other useless nanny state entities............
SEIU Membership will soar, as the army of “Government Nurses” descends on the populace, mostly in the ghetto areas.
If the Mod Squad will indulge...
Pete King showing the world what RINO means.
