WASHINGTON (AP) - Some families could get priced out of health insurance due to what's being called a glitch in President Barack Obama's overhaul law. IRS regulations issued Wednesday failed to fix the problem as liberal backers of the president's plan had hoped.
As a result, some families that can't afford the employer coverage that they are offered on the job will not be able to get financial assistance from the government to buy private health insurance on their own. How many people will be affected is unclear.
The Obama administration says its hands were tied by the way Congress wrote the law. Officials said the administration tried to mitigate the impact. Families that can't get coverage because of the glitch will not face a tax penalty for remaining uninsured, the IRS rules said.
"This is a very significant problem, and we have urged that it be fixed," said Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA, an advocacy group that supported the overhaul from its early days. "It is clear that the only way this can be fixed is through legislation and not the regulatory process."

RE: This country is run by IDIOTS!!
The more disturbing question is this -— WHO VOTED FOR THEM?
To quote a former member of the Baraqqi regime
“What difference does it make?”
“...hands were tied by the way Congress wrote the law.”
Wait...what Republican in Congress helped to write this law?
For that matter, which Democrat did?
Wasn’t the vast part of this bill written by the Apollo Alliance?
RE: Wasnt the vast part of this bill written by the Apollo Alliance?
Not sure about that. I do know that Harry Reid credited the Apollo Alliance with helping to create the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (also known as the stimulus bill)
Very sorry to hear of your trials. I know this may be hard, but this exactly what Medicaid is supposed to be for. Please look into it.
That’s the safety net we all agree on rather than the life-long entitlement.
“The Obama administration says its hands were tied by the way Congress wrote the law.”
The way the DEMOCRATS wrote the law...
In fact, is Obama in charge of anything other than the Office of Celebrity Appearances?
His family probably doesn’t quite qualify for Medicaid just like ours doesn’t. Every year or so the state of Washington sends us a letter saying we are being evaluated for transfer into Medicaid. But then about three months later we get another letter saying we don’t qualify due to retirement assets (which aren’t that much). Recently they raised the qualifying ceiling but still doesn’t quite cut it.
Hmmm. Bookmarking this mess.
I remember Mark Steyn saying this years ago. When health care is nationalized, he said, every election and every political discussion becomes an argument about getting enough ambulances to each hospital and getting just the right number of doctor visits for each patient and getting proper medical care for every citizen’s hangnails. This is just the start of those endless political discussions.
God help us.
The Apollo Alliance wrote a Cap and Trade bill too. There is enough evidence to suggest that they were essential to the health care debacle bill as well.
And, of course, Soros has his fingers in several pies as well.
“Weve talked about moving forward on these ideas for decades. The Apollo Alliance has been an important factor in helping us develop and execute a strategy that makes great progress on these goals and in motivating the public to support them. ....Harry Reid

Whoops, sorry wrong thread
Identify the “glitch” and exploit it.
I’ve got a real simple fix. Scrap the whole damn thing, then give low cost policies to those who WANT and NEED help.
There you go.
If it was about assuring that everyone has healthcare that is precisely what should be done, they could care less.. Unfortunately, it is about government power and control, it is the final step into socialism.
