The ethics of congress are so compromised that they are incapable of producing legislation that benefits the citizens of the USA.

The Obama administration says its hands were tied by the way Congress wrote the law.

But we had to (rush to) pass it so we can see what is in it?

[typing what I really think here may be legally actionable, so I’ll refrain]

‘Just another, “I didn’t know nothing” excuse to throw “Congress” under the bus. Well, he sure pushed hard enough to have his darling pelosi say to find out what was in the bill after they could get a chance to read it. Yes massa, elections have consequences, sure ‘nuff.

Really, he didn’t care what the consequences would be,
because 0bamacare isn’t the goal,
it’s the tentacles getting into our system,
then when it doesn’t work,

it’ll be set aside in favor of total government control of the healthcare system, instead of this facade of individual choice and involvement.

So I got laid off last year and lost medical coverage. My wife works at a low-paying job, but was able to get healthcare coverage for our family.

This year, the rate increased, so the premium now exceeds her pay. She could work more, but her hours are limited to 30 per week.

We don't qualify for financial assistance, and I don't qualify for COBRA anymore.

Having a great time out here. Glad to see Obama still has time to golf.

This may be an escape hatch for a lot of people looking for ways not to comply. Decline employer health insurance, not required to buy insurance. This needs to be exploited all the way.

This, and everything else the left does, is a transfer of money from producers to those who vote democrat.

If it hurts more people than it helps, the left could care less.

ObamaCare is a house of cards that is designed - like death from 1000 stabs - to slowly drive people into federal health care.

As for costs, my healthcare premium went UP 25% Jan. 1 due to ObamaCare stipulating that pre-exisiting conditions be covered. They say 40% of their new applicants have pre-exisiting condition.

Wait...what Republican in Congress helped to write this law?

For that matter, which Democrat did?

Wasn’t the vast part of this bill written by the Apollo Alliance?

Not sure about that. I do know that Harry Reid credited the Apollo Alliance with helping to create the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (also known as the stimulus bill)

I hope things improve for you folks somehow. My COBRA expired about 12 years ago. The only way we manage is through state-based coverage (not Massachusetts!). It actually works well for us and we are some of the very few survivors on the plan -- I don't mean still alive LOL, I mean nearly everyone else has been disqualified over the past few years). But this plan may go away in 2014 and then it is going to be the medical jungle for us like so many people.

His family probably doesn’t quite qualify for Medicaid just like ours doesn’t. Every year or so the state of Washington sends us a letter saying we are being evaluated for transfer into Medicaid. But then about three months later we get another letter saying we don’t qualify due to retirement assets (which aren’t that much). Recently they raised the qualifying ceiling but still doesn’t quite cut it.

"It is clear that the only way this can be fixed is through legislation and not the regulatory process."

Not true at all.

According to liberal economists, especially Krugman, the federal government can print as much money as it needs without having to worry about repercussions or balancing the budget. So, that being the case, Obama and the democrats can print as much money as they need to pay for those that can't pay for Obamacare. The doctors who take care of those people, will have to be forced to take that "monopoly" money, or else, they'll be the ones that get punished.

I remember Mark Steyn saying this years ago. When health care is nationalized, he said, every election and every political discussion becomes an argument about getting enough ambulances to each hospital and getting just the right number of doctor visits for each patient and getting proper medical care for every citizen’s hangnails. This is just the start of those endless political discussions.

God help us.

The Apollo Alliance wrote a Cap and Trade bill too. There is enough evidence to suggest that they were essential to the health care debacle bill as well.

And, of course, Soros has his fingers in several pies as well.

“We’ve talked about moving forward on these ideas for decades. The Apollo Alliance has been an important factor in helping us develop and execute a strategy that makes great progress on these goals and in motivating the public to support them.” ....Harry Reid

“...every election and every political discussion becomes an argument about getting enough ambulances to each hospital...”

Interesting point. Just like the local and State taxes are now. “Without this tax increase we will need to lay off 128 firefighters....”

BTW - my family’s insurance premium is now more than my frikkin mortgage! (And that is the cheap plan - although I imagine sex change operations and abortions are covered.)

Off-topic - but you know how we say wrt the 2nd Amendment on “what part of ‘shall not be infringed’ don’t you understand?”

Heck - they don’t even know what “affordable” means. (Affordable Healthcare Plan. Heh.)

HR3590 has more than 2000 pages but here is a summary, only 49 pages…..
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HR03590:@@@D&summ2=3&;

In my opinion, there were 18 million people without healthcare insurance but Obamacare transforms the entire national health care system and affects all residents of the U.S., not just the 18 million.

In the HR3590 summary, the words “Requires the Secretary” (of HSS) appear 98 times and “Directs the Secretary” appears 64 times. “Authorizes the Secretary” appears 30 times. The law gives a tremendous amount of power to one individual, Kathleen Sebelius, who was NOT elected by We, the People, and who “serves at the will of the President”.

The IRS may need as many as 16,000 additional auditors, agents and other employees to investigate and collect billions in new taxes from Americans. The government could have just expanded Medicaid to provide healthcare to the 18 million people and ask taxpayers to pay 1 to 2% more on their income tax to fund it. There is a great need for health care and I believe most Americans would have been willing to this tax. Instead we have a humongous mishmash of rules and regulations and taxations that intrude and affect every aspect of our lives.

After reading this information it appears that the Affordable Health Care Act is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The good stuff, coverage for children under 26 years old and pre-existing coverage were initiated first. Then the heavy fines and taxations and mandates will take effect in 2013 or later, after the November election of course.

The Obama Administration has already handed out 111 Obamacare waivers to U.S. companies. Unfortunately, if you’re a small business or don’t have connections you can’t get a waiver for your company. And there are some select groups who are exempt (Prisoners, illegal aliens, and foreign nationals, Amish, Mennonites, Scientologists and some Muslims). I think that Issuing waivers and exemptions to certain groups of people provides unequal treatment under the law. All laws should apply to all people. It is for this reason that this law violates the Constitution and should be thrown out. Just my opinion.

Stein knows what he’s talking about here. He experienced the political ramifications of nationalized health care in Britain and Canada. Any rational person would have avoided nationalization looking at the history of the Brits and Canadians if their interest was creating great health care... but it is rational if your interest is creating political influence and power.

God help us.

Obamacare was never about "healthcare".

It has always been about "control". That is, control of both a large segment of the American economy and control of our lives.

Don't kid yourself. Nobody was trying to do a "good deed" for the American people.

There was a thread awhile ago with a fairly old paper I think talking about how the money flowing through the economy is like a creek flowing into a lake. Once the money is in the population’s hands (the lake), it is hard to take it back out. Of course there are taxes, but the money is already being used in the individual’s interests funding business, etc.

The trick is to divert the money from the creek before it even gets to the lake. Government health insurance, and soon - Government health CARE (to fix the “crisis” created by Obamacare), will take a huge chunk of money (and power) out of the private market and directly into the government.
