For several years I always got a hold on my approval. It would usually get approved within an hour or two but it was so irritating that it kept me from buying several times as I didn’t want to have to wait for approval.
I have never been charged and certainly never been convicted of any crime except minor speeding and not even that for 30 years.
For some reason it no longer does that but you can see how irritating that would be.
I wonder if they are keeping a record. The only reason you are getting a background check is to purchase a firearm.
