The 2014 race involves roughly twenty Democratic Senators, and I would imagine that a dozen of them really don’t desire this to be brought to a vote because they can’t support it and hope to win in their state.

It’s zero percent chance of finding adequate votes in the Senate, and that’s the end of this fine piece of legislation that she spend hours and hours....cutting and pasting, to arrive at some product. Curiously, it’d be nice to know how many pages are inside of this...maybe 700 pages?

Yet, Boehner and McConnell will relent and offer instead, universal background checks for all exchanges. They'll say they had to. They'll say the Dems would have passed even worse. They'll say they had to give up something and universal checks isn't so bad. This is the Democrat plan all along. If they get universal checks, they've got it all.

Universal checks IS registration! And registration is just confiscation without the trumped up ‘emergency Executive Order’ confiscation action that will come when the next drugged out (Ritalin?) teenager offs his parents.

Democrats want it - I do NOT...not no, but HELL NO! NOTHING should be passed!

In any and all discourse with conservatives, RINOs, Democrats, liberals, progressives we should all be saying CONFISCATION whenever they say “well, universal checks might not be such a bad idea...” As far as I'm concerned, the two words are synonymous

If Reid eliminates the filibuster he will need 50 votes to pass the bill. Biden as VP will break the tie in favor should a tie occur.

At least 30 votes are in the bag for any type of gun control. Another 20 of the remaining 70 are needed and all 70 are not rock solid pro 2nd Amendment supporters. It is not inconceivable that 20 men and women in the Senate can be identified who have a personal failing they do not want to be made public which can be exploited. Others can be bribed.

Think back to the passage of Obamacare. The people were overwhelmingly against the measure to the point where hundreds of thousands came to Washington to protest. Yet the bill passed. It was a pivotal moment in advancing the agenda of the left and they persevered. Disarming the population is also critical to the long term agenda of the left. They will do everything possible to pass as strong a bill as possible. If they get mandatory universal registration, they will know where the guns are located. Then with one more vote on the Supreme Court they can redefine the Second Amendment to allow guns to be confiscated.

Not only Democrat Senators will be under pressure to vote for the bill. Think about John McCain. If he was told never appearing on a Sunday morning news interview show would be his punishment for not supporting the bill, how do you think he would vote? The same could be asked about Lindsay Graham. Other Republican Senators planning to retire might trade a vote on gun control for a university president job or an appointment to a corporate board.

Expect every form of pressure possible to be used to get the 20 votes needed to pass. The Democrats know if they don’t win this time it will be at least two years before they have another chance to pass another gun control bill. Like healthcare, this is a must win for them.
