British forces are on alert for an emergency deployment to Mali as David Cameron commits the UK to a fully-fledged battle against al-Qaeda in northern Africa.
The Times understands that units from the Army, Royal Navy and RAF are on high readiness to deploy if requested in support of France, which is attempting to repel Islamist extremists from the north of the country.
It can also be revealed that the Permanent Joint Headquarters, the military operations control centre, has until the end of the week to finalise contingency plans for any future Mali undertaking, codenamed Operation Newcombe, which would include...
Cameron doesn’t get out much, does he?
Mecca, and Medina. For starters. Apply as needed to effected areas!
“Mecca, and Medina. For starters.”
Yes!
Seems like a good article. Unfortunately I don’t want to subscribe to read the rest of it, but good as far as it goes.
Don’t forget Qom.
Counterterroism bump for later...
“Dont forget Qom.”
They’ve attacked so many places that are sacred to the West, that it’s about time for some serious payback. But let them kill themselves. Just parachute a plane load of pigs into these “holy places” immediately followed by a plane load of AK-47’s with a couple of 30 round mags apiece. They will machine gun themselves trying to “off the pigs!”
The the mosque on Temple Mount.
Then the mosque on Temple Mount.
Actually, I am told that it is not technically a “mosque.” Not sure why, but your point is still well taken — whatever it is.
“’Understanding’ doesn’t work. Killing does”.
Stating the obvious or trying to break the dangerous Rodney King fixation of leftists (er, now “progressives”)?
There is an alternative to killing, and initially it sounds even worse than killing, but it really isn’t. Yet we are uniquely capable of doing this in an effective way.
We “change their minds”. Not a lot, but just a little, and subtly. But the end result is that they will never be terrorists again.
Start by grading Islamists. The vast majority are hot air, incapable of actually carrying out acts of terrorism. And then their are those who can actually do something, but only in their own area or country.
Only a small minority have the brass to leave their country to travel to another country, to attack innocent women and children.
The techniques of drug induced hypnosis are well known. And likely we can now do it so well that the effects are permanent. The CIA could set up a mass production warehouse to, in effect, “brainwash” hundreds or thousands of fighters.
But “brainwash” is not a good word to describe it, as they would not seriously rewrite their minds, only that small part that gives them the momentum to leave their home country to attack people in another country.
All the rest of their mind remains untouched, but they now just want to go home and stay there. They would still be able to defend themselves if attacked, but they would no longer have any impulse to leave their country and engage in acts of terrorism.
It would not diminish them as a person, nor does it impact their “human rights”, as their is no human right to commit acts of terror.
But everyone of them sent home would generally be a “wet blanket”, because no matter how enthusiastic the recruiter, they would just not have the will to be a real terrorist.
Easier and cheaper just to KILL them.
If you wanted to make a buck on the deal, make them open season for civilian hunters and put a bounty on them.
A somewhat darker, but more effective approach I did not mention was to use them as “cannibal rats”, that is, reprogram hundreds of them to return home to assassinate the leaders, the instigators, the men of power in their terrorist movement.
The Soviets were so scared that their soldiers could be turned into agents of the West, and quickly, they had a 48 hour rule, that if in a conflict, a soldier was separated from his unit or not accountable under other Soviet military control for just 48 hours, they were to be considered as having been “captured by the enemy and turned”, so they were to be shot. They even told their soldiers about this policy, and the few times it was invoked, ironically, returning absent soldiers said they were aware of it, and returned knowing they would be shot.
This policy began in the 1950s. And mind control tech has advanced right along with other technology since then, though not in the military, as such. Just the pharmacopeia of mind control now includes dozens of drugs that do all sorts of weird things.
Optimally, a “cannibal rat” could have powerful explosives implanted in his body, so even if disarmed, if he just got close enough to his target, it would be enough. He would just push a switch hidden under his skin.
And because such terrorists are utterly reliant on their operatives being out of contact for extended periods, they could no longer trust anyone.
