Why terrorists love the blind sheikh
WND ^ | January 20, 2013 | Andrew McCarthy

Andrew McCarthy: Don't think Obama will release him? Not so fast!

An ugly and confusing terrorist attack at an Algerian gas facility is getting even more troubling as the Islamic radicals now demand the release of Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman and another prominent terrorist in exchange for the remaining American hostages.

Abdel Rahman is the blind sheikh now serving a life sentence for masterminding the 1993 attack against the World Trade Center. Terrorists are also demanding the release of Aafia Saddiqui, who is imprisoned on her conviction for attempted murder.

And the captors in Algeria are not the only ones who want to see Abdel Rahman released. The new leaders in Egypt are also urging the U.S. to free him. But why is Abdel Rahman so revered?

“He is the most iconic symbol to Islamic supremacists the world over of not only their struggle against the West but their deep-seeded conviction that they will win that battle,” said Andrew C. McCarthy, the lead federal prosecutor in the case that put Rahman and 11 others behind bars.

“He is thought of internationally as somebody who is virtually without equal in facing down the United States in particular. That’s not just because of the 1993 Trade Center bombing and the plots that occurred right after that to try to take out New York City landmarks but the fact that Osama bin Laden, someone else that was thought very highly of as an iconic figure in the international jihad, attributed to Abdel Rahman the credit for issuing the fatwa that approved the 9/11 attacks. So he’s a singular figure in this global movement and that’s why really since we imprisoned him in the summer of 1993 they’ve been agitating for his release.”

If it were me that had this terrorist in custody, I’d have been poking raw bacon down his throat daily.

If he would have been executed as he should have been (you know, like white terrorist Tim McVey), they could only ask for his dead carcass in trade....

Well, this terrorist swap didn’t work the first time. Ambassador Stevens had the audacity to be murdered, and thus took away his value as a trading token. Maybe they’ll get it right this time...

Cut his head off and send that to them.

They recognise and respect that kind of answer.

yes, they do......
back in Beirut, Lebanon in the mid-1980s, they kidnapped some Russians;
the Russians "found-out" who was behind it...they sent their all heads to their close
relatives...needless to say, the threats/ kidnapping stopped...

I heard a story about Black Jack Pershing when he was in the Phillipines. Well the muslims started a ruckus and started killing people. Black Jack Pershing took the dead bodies of the muslims killed in the ruckus and had them ground up with a pig. Then he set the remains to the families. The ruckus came to a screeching halt

“Why terrorists love the blind sheikh”

It’s the blind leading the blind.

“McCarthy said the U.S. expedited chaos in Africa by deciding to topple Moammar Gadhafi in Libya in 2011. He said in addition to removing someone who was largely cooperating in the fight against terrorism”

Message to tyrants: Never give up your nukes or WMD. Look what happened to Gadhafi.

History teaches stern lessons.

Enemies must be killed.

To not do so is to forever fend off retribution.

A dead sheikh is far better than an imprisoned blind sheikh.

The law means nothing in a war with the lawless

BTW..... i before e except in Sheikh

Any relation to this Saddiqui?

Siddiqui is Obama's chief agricultural negotiator September 23, 2009

Wait until the terrorists present the WH with a long list of islamists presently in American and European jails.

I am surprised that they have not yet demanded the release of the US Army Major who committed the mass murder on the Army base.

Of course, they can always move terrorist acts closer to home and force more demands on the public like they did in Beslan.

And in the meantime our gubmint wants us to turn in our firearms. Are they on the terrorist side or on our side?

This kind of thing is hard on my heart.

What happened to our country. I remember back in the mid-Eighties, there were a few DEMOCRATS left that would stand up for America. I remember Sen “Scoop” Jackson (D-WA) calling then-President Carter’s disarmament policies vis-a-vis the then-Soviet Union, “appeasement!”

Now, I cannot get a peep out of my putatively “conservative” senior (Republican) US Senator from Texas (Lil Johnny Cornyn) to speak up.

If this Administration’s policies (both domestic and foreign) vis-a-vis the Muslims do not merit some serious soapbox rantings by the “loyal opposition,” what, pray tell, does?

I cannot help but wondering — are they even “loyal?” Are they even “opposition” anymore?
