High prices, Obama-noia at Miami gun show
Miami Herald ^ | 20 Jan 2013 | Marc Caputo

The Miami gun-show line stretched 200 people long. Many blamed President Barack Obama.

This is what the president’s gun-control talk has wrought: long waits to get into gun shows, higher firearm and ammunition prices and more paranoia. The word “Obama” was frequently mumbled, muttered, hissed, cursed at Saturday’s Southern Classic Gun and Knife Show. “Obama” was a catch-all word, a gun-rights shibboleth of sorts, a no-longer-shocking swear, a conversation starter.

To Calvin Hudson, a Miami Gardens resident bargain-hunting at the Miami-Dade fairgrounds firearms bazaar, the Obama-blaming was a sign people were being fooled into paying more in a firearms market panic. “The industry is getting people all scared of Obama so they can kill us with some of these prices,” Hudson said. Hudson told a stranger or two next to him not to worry about the president’s gun-control plans, announced in response to last month’s deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. “Obama’s not taking away guns,” Hudson said to one couple. “He just wants semi-automatic rifles off the street.”

It’s extremely unlikely Congress will go along. Many say gun control hurts law-abiding citizens and does little to stop bad guys. The president might drop his “assault-weapons” proposal if Congress agrees to close the so-called “gun-show loophole,” which can allow people to buy arms without a background check.

“He just wants semi-automatic rifles off the street.”

While a lib-in-law was propounding on the need to remove "semi-automatic" rifles from the streets, I politely interrupted and asked "what does 'semi-automatic' mean to you?"

Knowing that he was profoundly ignorant on the topic compared to my own experience with firearms, he didn't even attempt to bluster - "I don't know" he said.

Case closed, eh? He still held the opinion, but understood that he was talking out his nether orifices on the topic.

I did politely explain the functioning of a "semi-automatic" rifle to him and explained that there was hardly a modern rifle in existance that didn't operate that way, and asked him if he really wanted to argue for a total ban on modern rifles, including hunting rifles.
"Of course not"... (losing argument of course)

The left wants people to think that "semi-automatic" means "SELECT FIRE", ie, fully automatic if you select it.

“Obama’s not taking away guns,” Hudson said to one couple. “He just wants semi-automatic rifles off the street.”

The inherently contradictory nature of that one sentence says it all.

Things like this will, for a brief moment, make me think that firearms licensing and training/test SHOULD be mandatory ... to keep morons like him from every owning a gun.

But only for a brief moment. :-)

he must be related to vichey or nevil chamberlin.

there are a few dealers who are stupid enough to think this will be good for their business by abolishing gifts and private sales.

The Miami Herald is not beyond making up stories.

Does this person quoted even exist? It seems a very weird comment. It seems ....odd.

I think you’re right. This character “Hudson” was created. We know libs are stupid. But could one be so stupid as to go to a gun show, during these times, and make a comment like that? Was he there just for that reason? Doubtful.

Connecticut’s abortionist’s knives and vacuums killed 20 more humans than lost their lives at Newtown.

EVERY day, Conn. loses 46 more humans to MOTHERS who are aiding and abeting KILLERS of their offspring.

Where’s the outrage?
