Albuquerque Shooting Leaves Five Dead, Teenager Charged

An Albuquerque shooting has left five people dead and a teenager charged, with investigators still combing over a home on the outskirts of the New Mexico city for clues as to what happened.

In the Albuquerque shooting, a man, a woman, and three children were found killed in a home near the city. The victims were found on Saturday night at a home on the southwestern edge of the city, said Deputy Aaron Williamson, a spokesman for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.

Each victim was shot multiple times, and police found several guns at the home including what they termed a “military-style” rifle. Police said they now are trying to determine who owned several guns that were found inside the home, including the military-style rifle.

The teenager police believe is responsible has been charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse. He will likely be arraigned on Tuesday, police said.

The boy is believed to be about 15 years old, The Associated Press reported. The shooting took place in an unincorporated area that lies about 10 minutes southwest of downtown Albuquerque.

Police said they weren’t sure how the teenager was related to the victims, and Williamson would not say whether the victims were related, CNN reported. He noted that police were still trying to figure out exactly what their relation was.

Police have still not released the identities of the victims of the Albuquerque shooting.

The Albuquerque shooting takes place in a highly charged political climate related to gun crimes. The massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December has placed a stronger focus on crimes committed with guns, especially those with so-called assault rifles.

Maybe he did something to the kids before he killed them. Maybe they charged him with child abuse for making them watch him kill their parents. It’s all nuts because the shooter was 15 and most likely will not be tried as an adult. If you notice there is no mention of ethnicity of either the victims or the perp.

I have one similar to that one. Only mine is a confirmed 50Cal Pennsylvania long rifle in perfect shape and has a walnut stock, also I have a flint lock pistol that is paired with it(walnut stock). It has a smashed bull dog head on the grip. Someone said that it was a slam on the king of England at that time.
These suckers work fine. Got them when I lived in Pa. Like neeeeew.

I’ve never shot a flintlock. I need to do that sometime. I’ve done a lot of shooting and hunting with a Thompson Center 50 cal. Hawken I bought back in the 70s. I love those “smokepoles”.

Periodically? No. Frequently? Yes. Maybe not a 5x homicide but shootings are a regular occurrence. I lived near the University in Albuquerque for a while in ‘94-’95 which is not considered bad at all compared to the South Valley. I heard gunshots every single night I was there.

There are more up to date accounts of this story. The teenager is named Nehemiah Griego. He is one of ten children. He killed his parents and three of his siblings. His father was a pastor.
