I had to come on to FR and post the following discussion that just took place at lunch that I had with a law enforcement agent that I am currently working with and a general practitioner who happen to be dining at a booth next to ours.
The television was on as the President was giving his speech about his 23 executive orders. When the discussion arrived about mental health and giving up personal information under the HIPPA act.
The physician stated that if Americans read about Obamacare a year ago they would have seen that the foundation was clearly there for this to be implemented anyway.
He said the bottom line is, doctors have been made cops or "agents" now for the government and are basically ratting out all kinds of information to them and other agencies that are covered under the umbrella of information access that Obamacare grants.
His one example was this:
If you have a history of anxiety attacks...the physician can now recommend to homeland security and the reporting agencies that receive the reports of "YOUR WELL BEING" on whether or not you should possess a weapon or not in your home. If a history of panic, depression, or bi-polar disorders exist in the HOUSEHOLD...your house will be checked off as a home that CAN NOT OR SHOULD NOT OWN A FIRE ARM.
Did you read that? Read it again.
The doctor and officer said this was another way of Obama and the government showing who were the weak links in society and leave them without the ability to defend themselves or have a voice other than to be medicated and monitored by the federal government as well and that routine checks can be made by law enforcement officers via a warrant operation set up by ATF to sweep your home for weapons.
There is so much more to go on here but I had to get this posted on what these 2 professionals were speaking about this afternoon...this is so much worse than anyone is even talking about.
Another good reason to avoid medicine as an occupation. Likely to be an outbreak of disgruntled former patients.

I have called the police twice in 35 years for a gun-related issue.
The first was years ago. I was working in a detox for a few extra $$ screening drunks for medical issues so they could dry out. A guy came in about 2 am and told me he was going to go to the ER of hospital X and start killing doctors and nurses, because they wouldn’t give him narcotics, but since he knew he would get in trouble, he wanted to see if I could “talk him out of it”. He told me he had a shotgun in his car outside. I called the police so THEY could talk him out of it.
The second was a few years ago. A man’s wife left him, with his kids, and he wanted to die. He had just bought a handgun. He refused to go to the ER, so I called the police to help him make a better decision.
What would you have done in these two cases? What laws would you write to guide or govern what I did?

are you seriously equating those two incidents with doctors interrogating their normal patients about weapons in their houses?
Not being short of cynicism, I take the opposite view. The pols knew this would happen sure as night follows day. It has the convenient effect (*intended* consesquence) of drawing up a good vs. evil battle line and forcing all to choose sides.
Those who love and live to be deceived are being programmed to hate the true engines of freedom while being enticed to embrace government tyranny. The good, caring government beast system is being held back by the vile small business employers who are greedy and think only of their evil "profit motive". Those who have chosen to feast upon lies believe that there is no use for those who reject the very premise Obamacare, Obamaphones, and the EBTnation in general. Truth has fallen in the streets because the government-worshiping culture of chains, darkness, and death is ready and willing to whack truth wherever it rears its ugly, inconvenient head. Otherwise it's "Game Over" for the dark side. The devil has but a short time.

A law was either proposed or passed in Florida recently forbidding doctors to ask about weapons, at all. That's what I was referring to.

Nothing wrong with their thinking as the planned failure becomes the reason for the next set of laws

I don’;t know if Ive said it in this thread or not, but if not, Over the last few years, I noticed a push by docs to swhove anti-depressents on folsk for everythign from backaches to muscle spasms to toenail fungus- it’s becoem a joke aroudn here that after a person goes to docs, they are asked what anti-depressents they were prescribed this time-
But ya know, I can’t prove it of course, but I’m wodnerign if thsi whole gun grab/mental health evaluatiions issue hasn’t been i nthe works for a logn time now with docs trying to shove anti-depressents on everyone knowign that eventually gun owners woudl becoem suspect IF they were ever on anti-depressents and ‘need a mental health evaluation’
I could never understand why docs were so eager to shove dangerous mind manipulating drugs on folks- but I’m beginnign to wonder if it might have been in preperation for the coming gun restrictions and reguirements to own guns-
With regard to “data mining”, I see some of that stuff and what if it means (EO #2 with health care info) that a prescription for an anti-depressant that you took for a few months when your mom died 6 years ago shows up on your gun purchasing background check and the government red flags and denies it because you are deemed to be at risk of killing yourself or others.
Or what if your spouse wants to buy a weapon, with no history of depression - but your anti-depressant meds show up and deny the spouse’s purchase as you might have access to the gun.
It is unwise to not understand that your doctor is now a government agent. Also, it is a mistake to not understand that your rights can be denied to you based on what your doctor knows about you. With health care records now available in DC, anything in them can be used by the government to debase and harm you. Zip your lip unless you are desparate and would be willing to surrender your privacy and rights to get meds from a doctor.
This might be the answer to the over prescribing of psycho meds. It’s normal life to feel anxious and sad at times and it is none of the government’s (your doctor’s) business. We don’t need pills to learn to get through hard phases. Often it is better handled with changing destructive environments or habits (exercising self control), parenting, friendship and prayer than with mind altering medications. A lot of these self awareness and self control skills are being lost to the drugs.
Physicians, hospitals and all agencies staffing medical personnel are being pressured to enter into contracts with what are called ACO’s. Physicians feel like they’re losing their rights to practice freely with good reason. You either join the huge health organizations or lose business.
Our president doesn’t want anyone performing any job in this nation without his say so. We aren’t a free nation anymore. When this becomes a communist country the dumb asses who voted for him will be too stupid to speak up!
