As debates over firearms simmer and President Obama mulls sweeping firearm restrictions via executive orders, media personalities like Piers Morgan dismiss guests defending gun rights with contempt. Youd think resistance to disarmament amounts to culpability for the Sandy Hook slaughter.
Yet, as John Lotts bestseller, More Guns, Less Crime, highlights crime rates have tumbled while gun ownership has soared, including permits to carry concealed weapons. America has more murder than many similarly advanced countries, but overall violent crime, save inner-cities plagued by family breakdown, remains below peer nations. The streets in Mr. Morgans England are far more dangerous.

Via Beltway Confidential:
President Obama wants tighter gun control laws, but he does appreciate that armed Secret Service agents protect his daughters every day on their way to school.
It might come in handy to have these super locks, Obama joked at Master Lock in Wisconsin, noting that he will soon have two teenage daughters. For now, Im just counting on the fact that when they go to school there are men with guns with them.
Obama wants background checks. If that be the case, let’s be sure that his background be included in that investigation.
Outstanding!
What is so troubling about this is the fact that we are helpless. When they finally find a way to pass laws that enact socialialized medicine, we say oh well, it was passed in Congress so we lose. When they push every limit to get their gun controls into law, we do the same. This is not how this government was designed, it’s an evil distortion.
“No legislative act, therefore, contrary to the Constitution, can be valid. To deny this, would be to affirm, that the deputy is greater than his principal; that the servant is above his master; that the representatives of the people are superior to the people themselves; that men acting by virtue of powers, may do not only what their powers do not authorize, but what they forbid. ... “

Ironically, the 2nd Amendment is anti-militaristic. The idea is to prevent the central government from achieving a monopoly of force. That is why Lincoln had an army of only 26,000 in 1861, and that crippled by the resignation of many southern officers. To keep the capital from being overrun, he had to depend on the state militia of Massachusetts, which was sent by its government, the commander-in-chief of that states forces. Lincoln had called for 75,000 volunteers to put down the rebellion, and the war was fought by state militias on both sides, with a small number obtained by the draft and by the enlistment of freed slaves on the Union side.
The House should pass a resolution quoting just those words. Only, Boehner seems determined to rule with Democratic support. He has stopped going by the Hastert rule.
Who is Harald Zieger quoted in the article? Did a search and could not fin him!
. . . which explains why Obama is trying to subvert it. Once he does away with Amendment II, he can easily do the same with the remainder.
Harald speaks often at local tea party events and other conservative gatherings. Loved the quote and didn’t want to use it without attribution.
Dont know.
Thanks, but I want to know something about him in in case I want to reference his quote!
The American Revolution started when the British attempted to take away the Massachusetts militia’s guns and ammunition!!!!

Trust Hamilton. He oughtta know.
That’s why liberals hate it so much. They don’t believe in any of the other 9.
or as i say it,
the 2nd amendment protects all the rest. plus the constitution as well.
Harald is a man who spent all of his childhood and much of his young adulthood in East Germany in the bad old days before the elimination of the Berlin wall. From his youth as a Communist believer (Because that is all I knew), to his Engineering studies (which required courses in Lenin and Stalinism), his transformation to a true believer in Christ Jesus as his Lord and Savior, to his escape to Austria (only because his father had been a citizen), Harald imparts a compelling tale of a life lived within the confines of socialism/Communism.
