....Netanyahu is expected to redefine his "natural partners" after the upcoming election, shifting from a nationalist government to a more leftist one.
The Ma'ariv newspaper quoted senior Likud members as saying that because of a need to focus on issues such as the economy and due to pressure that is expected to come from US President Barack Obama in regards to the peace process, Netanyahu is expected to shift his coalition more towards the center-left in an effort to build as broad a coalition as possible.
"Netanyahu would prefer to give up the religious parties, especially in light of the economic policy he would like to implement, which will include very severe cuts," said the Likud insiders. "With the ultra-Orthodox, he won't be able to reach an agreement."
According to the report, with a budget deficit of NIS 39 billion in 2012 and expected cuts of NIS 14 billion in 2013, the main issue in the upcoming Knesset will quickly shift to the economy and Netanyahu believes a coalition comprised of Yair Lapid, Tzipi Livni, and even Shaul Mofaz, assuming his Kadima party passes the threshold and gets seats in the next Knesset, will be best equipped to handle the tough economic policies that will need to be implemented.
"They are the first circle", explained the party officials. "In the second circle, and at a much reduced price, he will also offer the ultra-Orthodox and Naftali Bennett to join. But it will be at a funny cost, in a way that will make it clear to them that he is not really interested in them."
According to the report, Netanyahu fears that Jewish Home's Naftali Bennett will prevent him from making certain political moves in regard to negotiations with the Palestinian Authority and building in Judea and Samaria.

As Jackie Gleason would say: Ahaaaaaaaa! Aaaahaaaa! AAAAAAhAAAAAAAAAAA! I am vindicated. Bibi is as phony as a 30-shekel note.
I suspected as much. If this is true, he should not get another term as PM.
Israel may pay a huge price, but they will not be destroyed. God will prevent that.
Bennett was right. Netanyahu is a pig, and will sell out every settler. Remember it was also under his watch in 1996-1999 that the Wakf destroyed Jewish history below the Temple Mount, carting away tons of crushed relics on trucks like garbage. Bibi did nothing. Israelis need to vote only for Jewish Home.
From the article:
“All reports regarding Netanyahu’s intentions should be taken with a grain of salt, since they could serve various interests and be pure ‘spin.’ For instance, a rumor such as the above could serve to “lower the price” of Shas and Bayit Yehudi in coalition negotiations. It could also serve the purpose of Netanyahu’s rivals in the press, who would like to see him weakened even if it means a stronger Bayit Yehudi.”
Everyone from here to Timbuktu knows that the obama administration and the self-hating left in Israel would do anything, literally ANYTHING, to stop Netanyahu. He has thwarted them every time they have tried to trap him or trick him.
In no way do I believe that Netanyahu is so unprincipled that he would embrace livni’s whackadoos or any other far left party as his preferred coalition.
Some of the names on Jewish Home’s list make me shudder. I wish ...
Nothing is perfect.
“In no way do I believe that Netanyahu is so unprincipled that he would embrace livnis whackadoos or any other far left party as his preferred coalition.”
So then why was his defense minister so hell-bent to refuse to recognize legitimate land sales to Jews in Hebron, and knock down houses all over Judah and Samaria? And why is this still the government’s policy, even though Ehud Barak is gone?
I don’t know, E. Why was peres, the traitor elected president? How many Jewish soldiers would you rather see die or be kidnapped trying to protect the virtually unprotectable? Do you think the falsestinian authority would protect the Jews in Hebron? We need numbers. Many more numbers than we have now. peres and rabin sold Israel out. olmert, peres, and sharon made expanding the Settler movement next to impossible for now.
obama has been reelected here. That makes Israel twice the target it was before. The next four years are going to be a tightrope over the Grand Canyon with no net for Israel.
There are a lot of things I could say, but an open forum is not the place to say them. So I hold for now.
After Bibi ceded 97% of Hebron to the Falsestinians, it became that much more difficult to protect the established communities there. For a about two years, my now friends tell me that they had to have sand bags in front of their windows. They were under daily gun fire as they sat in their homes or went about their business in the streets. Finally, the IDF waged a pitched battle, 24 killed along with the CO, a colonel, and regained the necessary high ground, which is now Area B, and sniper fire of the sort the killed Hadassah Tehiya in her stroller is a rare occurrence.
Ceding territory does not make Jewish communities more defensible. It makes them indefensible, as has been proven in Hebron and Ghaza. The ghettos were supposed to be for our own protection, too.
They’ve been trying to make the Jewish Homeland into a ghetto since the Mandate. It’s an improvement on the Ottomans, I suppose, who were determined to eradicate the Yishuv painstakingly built up the Holy Land throughout the 19th Century. But it’s still unacceptable, whether from a British Mandate official, or an Israeli politician.

The same thing that is happening to the US is now happening to Israel we’re being destroyed from the inside.
The real lesson of the Trojan Horse.
Depends on whether the rumor is believed and by how many people. I think it will probably hurt some, but it might backfire and hurt the left even more if it scares enough people on the center right.
If people are afraid of a leftist coalition, they might go heavier against the left leaning parties and Jewish Home might pick up more votes than thought. At least I would hope that would be true.
I would also hope that Likud and Yisrael Beiteinu pick up enough to balance out some of the names on the Jewish Home list.
He’ll be PM regardless, but it will affect the size of his party in the Knesset, which will affect how badly he needs other parties to form his coalition government, which will affect the composition of that government. If Bibi romps, he can form a coalition with whomever he wants. If his party does badly, he’ll need either a lot of other parties to make up that majority, or one or two big parties. So practically speaking, if Bayit Yehudi is the second-largest party and Labor the third, he can form a coalition with just Bayit Yehudi, or he can form a coalition with Labor and another party, with Labor cracking the whip as to who is and who isn’t acceptable. But he’ll have some leverage, because if Labor is too pushy, he can just form a government with Bayit Yehudi and have done, and Labor will know that. American politics are much more straightforward.
Good riddance to Shas. Their vote is for sale - left or right - to whoever gives them the most entitlements.
Bayit Yehudi is another story. And I don’t believe Netanyahu will sell them out.
But anyone who doesn’t understand the bind Bibi is in has not been paying attention to Obama’s appointments.
This is a hit piece designed to scare voters into voting Bayit Yehudi instead of Likud.
I know. But I don’t think it will work the way they want it to.
