Seems a little strange, even for a mis-print?????
The deputy's home was next door to the deputy's home. Thissun ain't writted two good two.
One word - Sheila.
Obama’s hubris is a real blessing.
“...The lad with the AR drilled the older boogaler three times, ...”
Wow...hit three times with 5.56mm, and the guy is still breathing...
5.56mm versus 7.62mm ... here we go...
“Must be a fake story. The Houston Chronicle has NO story about this at all.”
They covered it here: http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Harris-County-deputy-s-son-shoots-one-of-two-1712908.php
Uh, no...the juvenile taken back to the crime scene was NOT the boy who shot at the intruders.
The juvi taken back to the scene was the second of two intruders. One came in the front and one the back of the home. The boy armed with the AR-15 shot at both of them, but only hit the adult perp, three times. So he ended up hospitalized.
The boy hero lived in the home. He wasn’t taken back to the crime scene, he lived there.
It was the juvi intruder, unwounded, who was taken back to the scene by the cops, I’m sure for investigative purposes.
They can get the juvi to turn on the adult perp he was with and set this case up nicely. He can reveal several things about how the crime was committed and each one of those items could become a charged count, and having gotten the adult on multiple crimes in the course of committing the home invasion, the authorities can lengthen the adult perp’s sentence.
Might have hit him in the foot all three times.
A “fair fight” is a result off poor mission planning. If your goal is self defense parity you simply don’t understand either the problem or your chances of recovering from it. Notice that the boy apparently made his move at the first sign/sound of forced entry. If you are serious about your own safety/defense then you need to re-assess how much and where your defensive tools are with a view to making them OVERWHELMING———that’s what works.
“...Might have hit him in the foot all three times....”
...which, of course, would have made him “hopping mad”???
(sorry...it’s Monday)
But seriously...yeah, it’s where you hit. Like that woman in Georgia who shot the scumbag breaking into her home a week or so ago - she hit him 5 times (!!!!!) and he was still breathing and driving... .38spl versus .45
One or two hits from .45 ACP (Assh*le Criminal Popper, or American Commie Popper, your choice - either way, its the same) would have put him on ice.
Personally, I like an AR platform with a LWRC piston upper, in .308/7.62 NATO.
Best of all worlds... .30 Caliber knockdown, AK47 piston-style reliability, and that ol’ familiar silhouette that makes libs pee themselves in horror just thinking about it.
Failing that, the M14 is my Beauty Queen.
Today I saw the police commissioner of Chicago telling Dick Durbin about how the CPD had arrested criminals with semi-auto pistols which had larger magazines (”several shots more”) than the officers were carrying.
Now, instead of buying larger magazines for his officers or asking the the U.S. Attorney to prosecute the miscreants so they go to federal prison for a decade or so, the Commissioner’s solution is to get Dick Turban to pass laws to make sure I have fewer bullets in my magazine than the bad guys, too. Wow, what a genius!
Well, they DID call them “equalizers” back when the West was wilder. But gee can’t you get tongue in cheek. I want two big scary guns if the intruder has one.
I know it has been some time since you posted your socialist rhetoric and will likely never see my reply, but it’s worth a chance to get your attention and allow you the opportunity to listen to the point of view of someone who has experienced, understands and fears tyrannical government.
Please do not immediately become upset and stop reading. I’ve read everything you have to say and am more than willing to politely continue to debate gun control/2nd Amendment issues. And, I apologize in advance for my redundancies, the long-winded post, for any sarcastic or insulting remarks and for my lousy English and German grammar skills as I’ve had to make due for 25 years with only a high school education, with only two years of German, and am a United States Marine, who has since become an autodidact in lieu of the socialist teachings offered through formal education over the past 20+ years.
Now, I may be wrong, but you sound as if you may be of those deluded, not delusional but deluded, city dwellers from at least an upper middle class family who’s been led to believe that giving up your rights, liberties and freedoms and allowing for socialist rule is justified to keep people safe. You probably have been led to believe that strict gun laws and ownership restrictions deter violent gun crime, even though criminals do not obey these unconstitutional laws to begin with while only law abiding citizens are adversely affected. You likely have been led to believe that guns are inherently evil and innately dangerous, that your only option is to call 911, that you always have plenty of time to call 911, that criminals breaking into your home will not harm you as long as you give them what they want and that the police will respond to your call and arrive at your side instantly to protect you from the criminals. Well, that is NOT the way things work in the real world. Also, firearm free zones only provide dangerous, violent criminals with a zone free of guns being aimed in their direction. That is, until the police finally show, which is usually well after the crime has been committed and the criminals have fled.
I grew up in a sparsely populated area in southwestern New Mexico and was taught at a very young age how to properly and safely handle firearms and bows, hunt, fish, trap, track and many of the other essentials to survival in the wilderness. I learned to respect them and understand their intended purposes. I’ve owned, carried and used firearms to fight our nation’s enemies, to defend myself and others and for hunting for 38 years. 100,000,000+ citizens of our once great nation also own, carry and use firearms for these same reason. Like it or not, firearms are a part of our culture. They are the reason were remain free. They are one of the necessary tools for the defense of our free republic and our rights, liberties, freedom and our lives. There is no way I would ever allow any right to be taken away from any citizen for any reason. This is part of my Oath of Service. It’s part of my upbringing imparted to me by my parents and my past teachers. Back when we were still taught the values of a free republic. Not only were my teachers responsible and patriotic, but all of the citizens in my area were raised as patriots. We love our country and will lay down our lives in its defense. We despise socialism, communism, fascism and any other form of government or rule which oppresses the people and denies them their rights, liberties and freedoms. I joined the Marine Corps and spent six years as an exemplary Marine. I would have enjoyed making a career of it, but President Bill “Slick Willy” Clinton had signed Affirmative Action into law and I was no longer able to be promoted as it directed nearly all promotions in rank to go to minorities simply for being of a minority race. No longer were we rewarded for our experience, skill, hard work and good behavior. No longer were we promoted on merit, but due mostly to race. Well, being a middle class “white” male disqualified me from promotions in my particular m.o.s.
So, as a United States Marine, I have seen firsthand how people suffer under oppressive forms of government while lacking the rights that we enjoy here in the U.S. of A. I have seen for myself the dangers of people not being able to defend themselves from criminals and tyrannical governments. I can not warn you strongly enough against continuing to follow your current socialist ideology. Your perfect Utopian society will never exist and it is foolish to believe it is even possible. For you and everyone else in this country to give up your 2nd Amendment rights, or any other rights, would be a fatal mistake. To even give in as much as we have to our currently oppressive government is a dangerous prospect indeed. I constantly hear of uninformed and misinformed citizens and corrupt politicians and government officials declaring that the people have no need of firearms and that the government would never inflict tyranny upon the people. If we allow just one of our constitutional rights to be taken from us or simply give it up, we will eventually lose them all. Especially if the 2nd Amendment is lost. This is the amendment that affords the people the ability to defend themselves against criminals and tyranny. If it weren’t for the fact that citizens have managed to maintain their right to own and bear firearms for the past 226 years (since the Constitution of the United States of America was ratified), we would likely not be the free nation we barely are today. Without the people being able to maintain their freedom through the possibility of force there is no way for them to defend themselves from either criminals or tyranny. And to deny that tyranny can exist within our government or that our government would never turn on us is utter stupidity, for, as they say, the proof is in the pudding.
The Senate and House are most assuredly abound with at least a few liars, thieves, cheats, swindlers, &c. There can be no doubt that at least a few of the senior members of Senate follow either a socialist, communist or fascist ideology. I can only guess as to how chock-full the House is with criminals, let alone those following a political ideology that contradicts basis of a free republic. Not to mention many of our law enforcement organizations. Ah, but the Senate! There is the Den of Thieves! So corrupt and crawling with criminals, I dare not attempt to surmise the depths of depravity within those walls. We are in the times when corruption and socialist values are running rampant throughout our executive, judicial and legislative branches.
I have advocated for term limits to be imposed on Senate and House members for at least 20 years. The very reason the position of president was limited to two terms is the same reason House and Senate terms should also have been limited. Unfortunately, our forefathers never dreamed that our Congress could become so corrupt. Term limits will lessen the possibility of politicians being tempted and becoming corrupted. I’m absolutely certain, without a single doubt, that our Forefathers would be dumbfounded at the idea of career politicians. If they were here today, and they asked you what these politicians do for a living, you’d tell them they are politicians. They acknowledge that, but then ask what they do to make money to support themselves and their families. You’d tell them they are politicians. They simply wouldn’t understand the concept. That is because a career as a politician will breed corruption. I don’t believe they ever intended for anyone to make a career of politics. Especially not where our Constitutional government is concerned.
Constitutional governments, such as ours, normally consist of a body of citizens. They are not a ruling body of citizens as some have come to think of themselves, but are a body of citizens who convey the wants and needs of their constituents. At least, that’s how our government is supposed to work. Look at some of the past actions of many of our politicians, civilian police and even a few military personnel. There have been some selfish, disgraceful, illegal, unconstitutional, corrupt and even dangerous and deadly acts committed over the last several decades. Even more so just recently. How could we trust these people to ensure our safety if we turned over all of our firearms? We’d be left completely defenseless against, not only masses of criminals, e.g., street gangs and drug cartels, swarming our streets, but also against any socialist, fascist, communist or religious coup that came along.
To understand the dangers of relinquishing our constitutional rights, we need only look at history. I’m a bit rusty, but I think it was early 1933 when Hitler convinced the German people to relinquish their constitutional rights granted to them by the Weimarer Verfassung (Weimar Constitution) of the Weimar Republic. It all began with the Reichstags-brandverordnung (Reichstag Fire Decree), more commonly known as the Verordnung des Reichspräsidenten zum Schutz von Volk und Staat (Decree of the Reich President for the Protection of People and
State). This decree nullified the people’s most important civil liberties and rights as it was “ordered in defense against Communist state-endangering acts of violence.”
The decree read as follows;
§ 1. Articles 114, 115, 117, 118, 123, 124 and 153 of the Constitution of the German Reich are suspended until further notice. It is therefore permissible to restrict the rights of personal freedom [habeas corpus], freedom of (opinion) expression, including the freedom of the press, the freedom to organize and assemble, the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications. Warrants for House searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.
Can you imagine giving up these rights as we know them today? Being subject to the whims of those in office? We already know that there are far too many shady characters in office today. There is no way in hell we would survive the loss of these rights. Everyone always points me to Australia and the UK, but look at some of the things happening in those countries. Their violent crime rates have gone up, not down as much of the liberal media tries to portray. They still have some criminals using firearms to commit crimes. Some have even used explosives. But many of those criminals still use weapons of some type, whether is be a knives, machetes or blunt weapons such as baseball bats, cricket bats, small appliances, automobiles, iron or steel pipes or even something such as a vase. Many UK and Australian citizens are still lobbying to regain their rights to own and bear firearms, but once they’re gone... they’re gone. The only way to get them back has historically been through revolution and war.
Soon after the Reichstag Fire Decree came the Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich (Law to Remedy the Distress of People and Reich), otherwise known as Ermächtigungsgesetz von 1933 (Enabling Act of 1933). This amendment basically gave Adolph “I’m a sack of shit” Hitler the power to enact laws without the consent of the Reichstag or the people. Hitler was only the Chancellor at the time, but after the amendment passed he became the most powerful man in Germany.
The amendment read as follows;
The Reichstag has enacted the following law, which is hereby proclaimed with the assent of the Reichsrat, it having been established that the requirements for a constitutional amendment have been fulfilled:
Article 1
In addition to the procedure prescribed by the constitution, laws of the Reich may also be enacted by the government of the Reich. This includes the laws referred to by Articles 85 Paragraph 2 and Article 87 of the constitution.
Article 2
Laws enacted by the government of the Reich may deviate from the constitution as long as they do not affect the institutions of the Reichstag and the Reichsrat. The rights of the President remain unaffected.
Article 3
Laws enacted by the Reich government shall be issued by the Chancellor and announced in the Reich Gazette. They shall take effect on the day following the announcement, unless they prescribe a different date. Articles 68 to 77 of the Constitution do not apply to laws enacted by the Reich government.
Article 4
Treaties of the Reich with foreign states, which relate to matters of Reich legislation shall for the duration of the validity of these laws not require the consent of the Reichstag. The Reich government shall adopt the necessary legislation to implement these agreements.
Okay, why bring up all of this history about Hitler and how he took control? Because it shows exactly how we will doom ourselves if we relinquish even one right afforded to us by our Constitution! Although, the Constitution was only written for fear that people would not understand that these rights are earned at the time of our birth. They are not given to us by any person or document. They are ours from birth. The Constitution only affirms that these rights are ours by birth.
Now, let’s leave off the 2nd Amendment debate with some examples of the atrocities that have occurred just within the last century or so. I’ll keep it short and simple and will be very willing to go into explicit detail if requested. Remember, these are all the resultant of disarmament of the people by socialist, fascist and communist governments, or the people never had any firearms to begin with. Many did have weapons to fight back with, though they were antiquated, and antiquated weapons are of little use against modern weapons. Try using bows & arrows, spears or WWI to WWII bolt actions with little available ammo against modern AK-47s/74s, RPGs, grenades, RPKs, mortars, howitzers, RPKs, &c. Some state sanctioned deaths were executions, some were resultant of starvation, others were the result of organ failure due to dehydration and/or heatstroke. Lastly, I’ll stay within the confines of the 20th Century rather than looking back in time to such events as the Spanish Inquisition. Let’s see, I think we’ll start with...
Armenia, 1915-1918: Turkish officers Mehmed Talaat, Ismail Enver and Ahmed Djemal (known as “The Young Turks” and were the original TYT). 1,500,000 Armenian Christians exterminated.
Soviet Union, 1932-1933 and 1936-1940: Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov (of Molotov cocktail fame), Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin (Joseph Stalin); Decossackization (Red Terror - 7,000,000 deaths), Yezhovshchina (The Great Purge), Great Purge of Mongolia, operations conducted by the NKVD. 20,000,000 to 30,000,000 million exterminated by their own government. Some estimates go as high as 61,000,000 deaths committed by the Soviet government during the Stalinist period. These higher estimates likely include the deaths of unarmed civilians and conscripts/soldiers at the hands of the Soviet government during WWII. They killed all who ran from the Germans... as examples.
Nanking, China, 1937-1938: The Imperial Japanese Army; 300,000 murdered, 50% of the city’s population.
Nazi Germany and occupied territories, 1933-1945: Adolph Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers Party; I’m trying separate the Jews from the others in these estimates. Like I said, I’m a bit rusty with my history. Estimated 6,000,000 Jews exterminated, 10,547,000 Slavs exterminated, 2,000,000 Poles exterminated, 100,000 to 400,000 mentally ill and physically disabled exterminated, 3,500,000 Soviet POWs murdered, 90,000 to 700,000 Romani murdered. Hitler made few exceptions where killing was concerned and even killed hundreds of
thousands of the German people for mental and physical disabilities, opposing him in his earlier political years, opposing his war, opposing his methods, sexual preference, treason and many more reasons.
Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea), 1948-1987: This one is hard to get an accurate estimate on, but let’s shoot for somewhere in the low millions... maybe 2,000,000 to 4,000,000 civilian deaths.
Cambodia, 1975-1979: Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge; 2,000,000 civilians exterminated.
Ethiopia, 1977-1978: Mengistu Haile Mariam; Estimates of 30,000 to 500,000 murdered. Most were simply unarmed or fought with antiquated weapons.
Rwanda, Africa 1994: Hutu tribe; Estimated at 800,000 dead, mostly Tutsi. The Kigara River literally ran red with blood as butchered bodies floated downstream into Lake Victoria. You really don’t want to hear any of the stories of the horrific methods of this genocide.
Bosnia-Herzegovina, 1992-1995: Slobodan Milosevic led Orthodox Christians; 200,000 Croatian Catholics and Albanian Muslims exterminated.
Darfur, Africa 2003-Present: Sudanese government, Sudanese Arabs and Al-Qaeda; The numbers are all over on this one. It would seem there’s somewhat of a consensus of 300,000 deaths.
These are only a few of many of the genocides that took place during the 20th Century and the beginning of this century. Some still rage on. These are the examples of tyranny. These are the historical reminders of why we must never forget our duties, responsibilities and obligations as patriotic citizens of the United States of America, and the reasons why we must maintain our rights at all costs.
Excellent first reply, but you missed the sarcasm tag on that post.
Stick around, I think you’ll like it here.
