United Way: No, we didn’t know about Dec. 14 Sandy Hook shooting in advance
The Daily Caller ^ | 1/8/12 | David Martosko

Posted on 01/08/2013 9:36:27 PM PST by Nachum

The United Way of Western Connecticut said it rejects conspiracy theories claiming it knew about the Dec. 14 Newtown, Conn., school shooting three days in advance and leveraged that knowledge to raise money.

“It’s preposterous,” executive vice president Isabel Almeida told The Daily Caller Tuesday, dismissing what she called a “flawed” Google search result that suggests her organization issued a statement of condolence — and launched a support fund for the victims’ families — on Dec. 11.

That fund has raised more than $6 million, the group reported Jan. 4.

The throes of shock, horror and depression will cause anyone to act in a variety of different ways. What is the appropriate label for someone who criticizes how someone else reacts when they could never know how they themselves would handle such atrocity? It’s called empathy...try it. Someday you may need it too.

Oh, I know exactly the state I would be in- & like most people, have been there for friends & family members who have lost loved ones to illness, accidents, & natural causes. I’ve been there a couple of times with people who were involved or witnessed fatality traffic accidents. Almost all of us witnessed the shock & disbelief experienced by victims & news personnel on September 11th.
I’ve never seen anyone, even in shock or pharmaceutically assisted- or very strong people, with that apparent demeanor. (I have also been a witness to persons injured in a similar shooting: 1979, Battle of Flowers Parade, San Antonio. The shooter was a man named Ira Atterberry (sp) & he was shooting from the parking lot of the bank where I worked.)
Turn off the sound & watch it again.

I’m not out on any limbs speculating about what happened with this shooting, but I stand by what I said.

I also was not the only person to comment on this video, so it is interesting that you addressed only me.

it is has always been common for authentic Roma (gypsies) to beg others for money to bury their dead.

For them this would be normal behavior and in the good old days everyone would recognize it as what it is ~ a burial custom of a small but ancient ethnic group.

Billy Blythe, Bill Clinton's gypsy ancestor, died way back in the 1800s and his relatives begged for money to bury him.

Did you mean this reply to be for me or someone asking about the appeals for financial help, muawiyah? Or is FR having a glitch? I was just questioning the father’s demeanor, but didn’t address the appeal. It’s so common nowadays, I guess I don’t think that much about it.

That’s interesting, though. About all I know about the Roma is their connection to flamenco dancing. And I have a beloved dog named Gypsy.

To Theoria- ;-) Well, this one’s just a given. I suspect Clinton can cry on command faster than any woman alive. We *know* he’s a sociopath. He’s much better at it than 0bama.

I'll ask again, "How many people are foolish enough to trust Google?"

Google just reflects what's out there.

That video is extraordinarily weird. The guy’s behavior is beyond bizarre.

But extrapolating from it to show there aren’t really a bunch of dead kids in CT is even weirder.

Implementing such a conspiracy would require the active cooperation of probably hundreds of people in the community, including LEOs, parents, neighbors, etc.

I do not claim there aren’t people who would stage such a conspiracy to make a political point, just that there is no way it could be pulled off.

To the point that the guy must be a sociopath ~ that's all it was.

This particular behavior is typical of that ethnic group. Does not mean they aren't sociopaths, just that they normally DO THAT!

It has something to do with superstitious beliefs about money of different kinds, that difference having to do with its origin ~ e.g. stolen money, earned money, interst paid on money on deposit, inherited money ~ etc. the only good money being that which is contributed (in this case, to yourself).

Way back in the good old days they used to worry about this incessantly ~ no one would take 'blood money', certainly not Christians ~ see this referred to several times in the New Testament. We have judas. We have the widow's mite. We have the money changers. And so on ~ those stories all reflect on money to one extent or the other depending on its origin or its use.

The Gypsies, coming from a Hindu background, simply added all that to their treasurehoue of superstitions to come up with the idea that to bury the dead you must have holy money!

Google just reflects what's out there.

There is plenty of misinformation, disinformation, propaganda and bullshit out there. It takes time and patience to wade through it.

You said”

Well yeah, I agree. It’s a really strange leap. It was such a mess within a couple of days, I don’t see how anyone would be comfortable speculating about it. But it’s the internet & that seems to just be something that people on the internet do.

I was only addressing this Mr Parker’s behavior. I’m not getting mixed up in the speculation. Something’s fishy. I have no idea what.

Sorry, didn’t mean to imply you were making that extrapolation.

I see. Wow. I would have never connected it to the sociopath thing (& I really wasn’t suggesting he is, either. It was more hyperbole to express the oddness of his apparent detachment. Like “unless he’s an alien...”)

That’s fascinating. And complicated. The concept of blood money, I understand, & Judas. Wow. I never give money that much thought, although I do have a (just me, personally) thing about not writing off donations. (I’m afraid it is removes the spirit of it, I guess)

As I said, I just didn’t think much about the appeal for donations because it’s so commonplace. Or they’re very common where I live.

So what’s the explanation? Does it take 3 days to search the entire internet (that was my first guess but it doesn’t appear to be true)

I don’t have an explanation. I do not even vaguely resemble a computer/internet expert.

I do know that the least likely explanation is a conspiracy involving hundreds or thousand of people. Such a conspiracy is unlikely, not because people aren’t wicked enough, but because three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead. Hundreds or thousands of people (including, for some obscure reason, the United Way?!), not so much.
