Republicans need to get their heads on straight, regroup, and start to announce what is right - stridently.

Duh, of course it made sense to review this bill for a few days rather than throw money down the stairs and see where it lands.

Christie is a bastard like Obama, a self centered political survivor, and in the end he skips the part that is best for people. And everyone agreed with his irresponsible populist rant.

Don’t think that GOP members of Congress didn’t add their own pork. In the last budget deal Sen. John Thune (R-SD) slipped in money for the ethanol boondoggle and was taken to task for it by Laura Ingraham on her radio show.

Is it any surprise Christie loves pork?

Krauthammer is no conservative. A real conservative would say that the United States is over $16 Trillion in debt. States like NY, NJ, and CT have some the highest taxes at the state and local level in the nation to support socialist government programs and are so broke that they can't take care of their own. Too bad, this is a consequence of electing Democrats. America's children cannot be saddled with additional debt because of lazy ass liberals didn't prepare.

I am unable to find anything in the US Constitution that says the federal government has a power to be an insurance company, whether it be flood insurance or unemployment insurance. These are things that the private sector can provide in a much more effective and efficient manner. Additionally, there is nothing in the constitution that gives the federal government to be a charity. Private charities are much better than any government programs.

It is not that conservatives don't believe in helping people in need. They do. Conservatives give far more to charities than liberals. Conservatives want to save the Republic so there is a Republic for America's children. Voting for bills like Sandy Relief is a vote to hurt our children's. People like Krauthammer, all Democrats and RINO hate children and want to see your children suffer. How vile and evil is that?

Okay, I probably don't know how to play the "children card", but is better than anything I have heard from any Republican.

If would have been more effective if Kraut listed the pork so that all would see what is in the bill. ‘Ton of pork’ is just an unsubstantiated assertion which needs to be backed up to expose the pork packers.

The Federal Flood Insurance is water under the bridge, because they already sold the insurance and collected the premiums. They weren't paying off, though -- because there was no money left.

My impression is that the underwriting has been pretty poor. Not only regarding the assessment of risk of a catastrophe like Sandy -- but even as far as the individual property risk underwriting. My late FIL's house was pretty close to the ocean. We live 3 miles inland, and on a hill. But both houses are in the same Federal flood insurance rating zone. (I plan to drop the flood insurance when it comes up for renewal. We had some tree damage, but no flood damage from Sandy. But it's close to a sure thing that flood insurance premiums will be going ballistic. And if the water level ever comes up this high, the entire insurance industry will be bankrupt.)

Krauthammer has NEVER been a conservative. I find him more and more to be a self-serving ‘smart guy’. There is little to his commentary and lots and lots of nonsense

We the tax payer are getting raped by over a trillion dollars a year in new debt, over 6 trillion if we go by GAAP. We have no budget and I don’t see anyone in Washington with the will to produce one all we have is debt ceiling votes.
