It isn’t entirely true that, as Lord Acton said, “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” It’s often the case that power simply allows people the luxury of lowering façades and showing their true colors.
A good example is the recent behavior of many on the Left. Commentator Donald Kaul just wrote that he had no problem with guns being pried from their owners’ “cold, dead hands” and that Republican leaders should be dragged around a parking lot with a pick-up truck. A European college professor recommended the execution of “Climate Change Deniers” and the Pope. Closer to home, an American academic called for NRA president Wayne LaPierre’s “head on a stick” in some profanity laden tweets. And then there was voice of moderation Harry Belafonte; he didn’t ask for blood — only that Barack Obama arrest political opponents (prompting me to spoof a song in his honor).
Ah, it’s a long way from Woodstock and peace and love, isn’t it?
You might not expect such hostility, with Barack Obama’s reelection and the liberal dominance of our culture; you might think the leftists would be satisfied with their many legislative wins and be busy planning political strategy. Think again. As I wrote recently, with liberals’ victory in the culture war — and it is over — they’re now embarking upon something else: a pacification effort.

Sure, I agree. But telling a bunch of cops and Mil to start killing their own friends and family is not going to get a majority of them to do it.
You forget one thing. All of history doing such happened elsewhere. And in places without the freedoms we have thusfar enjoyed.
Think a cop is gonna tear down his neighborhood without that neighborhood tearing down his home? Him or any cop sent to do it? Think he will shoot knowing in turn he will be shot?
Most places in your example were disarmed.
As for the mil, someone has to man the drones. Skynet has not yet become self-aware. And you’ll note that nearly 70% voted against Obama.
Think they will shoot their own or someone else’s family when they know someone just might shoot theirs in revenge?

As for resupply, explain in detail how 30% of the remaining Mil fights off a 3 front foreign attack, a massive homefront insurrection and resupplies thugs.

I wish that I could believe what you are saying. We will be disarmed. There wont be any doubt of that. The police and military willl do what they are told, and killing from 10,000 feet is no big deal.
We live in a culture with little moral underpinning and an economy that is crashing. People turn in their neighbors all the time, and guess what, it will be difficult to retaliate with the drone on the block watching every move.
We havent enjoyed true freedoms in about 30 years. Most of the young alive cannot remember when people were free.
I wish I could think differently. Only time will tell. I just do not see the courage and commitment needed to turn this around. At all.
I asked, “well what is going to happen to those people we can’t reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?” and the reply was that they’d have to be eliminated.
And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers.
And when I say “eliminate,” I mean “kill.”
Twenty-five million people.
I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees, from Columbia and other well-known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people.
And they were dead serious.
You do not see it...YET.
And you will not see it until a percentage of ‘us’ are shot in fron of them as examples to all.
Then you will see it. Because until people see thet it’s real, they won’t react. But when they do, it will be one hell of a reaction and the proportional response doctrine of the UN will be the last thing on people’s mind.

Do you really think that is the way it is going to happen? I see night raids and secrecy. It wont be out there until the populace is cowed. Already we are being desensitized to no-knock raids, having property confiscated in purported crimes, and many other losses of rights. I hope you are right.

The Times has a history of such columns from across the political spectrum. How balanced is it? I don't go there usually if I can avoid it, except their health and science sections. There, they can be first rate if it doesn't involve politics.
Eventually people will notice their neighbors missing won’t they? That can only go on for so long before they have to either become more open about it (get caught and word spreads thus forcing escalation)/shoot in public, or people will draw the line there and my scenario unfolds..
But either way, examples must be made. If not, how will they intimidate and force compliance.
And you can believe for all the sheep, after the first couple midnight raids, there will be wolves waiting.
Yes there will be vischy Americans selling out the wolves. And they too will disappear once discovered. But not by the govt. And THAT word will spread as well.

There is a point most are missing here. While it’s true that MOST leftists wouldn’t have the guts to do much, a passionate and vicious minority always suffices. For example, what percentage of Nazi sympathizers were the Brownshirts? What percentage of communists in Russia actually did the dirty work necessary to cement the 1917 revolution?
The victory goes to the passionate and bold, and one such person is worth at least ten average people. This is true even when the zealous are immoral slugs and the average people are relatively virtuous.

What you say is generally true. Most police and military folks, with all due respect, behave like cogs in the machinery. And most of them are young idiot voters who have little grasp of history or the philosophy of governance.
This isn’t to say they’re bad people, just brainwashed people. When the DHS hands down instructional materials telling them that white militia types pose a serious threat, they tend to believe it.

I absolutely agree with you. That is what makes it so dangerous.
As do I. But ultimately if we reduce this *which we all should IMO) to the basics, you have a simple question. Do we wish to be free or not?
If we truly do, the courage will follow as a natural consequence. If we do not, then we should just give up mow, hand over our guns and become the enemy.
Because those are the only real options short of suicide.

The dramatic child sexual abuse allegations we have been subjected to and that marginalizes people is another example. Look at our child sex laws, people who take an outdoor leak in the woods are treated similarly to child rapists. Sex has long been a tool of the left to demonize and marginalize people.
There is a reason and purpose for this.

And every one of those opressive empires fell. And they will again. Easy? No. Long slog? Absolutely. But we sis not end up here in a day nor will we win in a day. But we will win. We always do.
People have to accept that they will lose everything they have because of who and what they are. That’s simply reality. So they can give in now, or fight it and perhaps die by some lib bullet or whatever. Or perhaps move the ball a yard in our direction. And they will not be alone.
But they WILL feel the pain and their yacht and business will go away.
It comes down to what is more important to them.
You don't need the most, certainly not the sheep. Only about one third of the colonists supported the American Revolution.
If the left installs a dictator and starts rounding up conservatives, entire chunks of the country, the south, mid west and or Texas will secede. Their will be no revolution, as the republic was/is designed to splinter in an tyrannical emergency.
