Massachusetts Republicans cheer as Dems back Edward Markey for Senate seat

If there is such a thing as being too liberal for Massachusetts, Rep. Edward Markey may fill that requirement.

The 18-term congressman has embraced every far left cause since he entered the House in 1977 and has a voting record among the most liberal in congress.

If, as expected, former Senator Scott Brown runs in the special election to replace Secretary of State nominee John Kerry, the contrast between the two candidates would be striking.

Boston Herald:

A mad scramble by bigwig Democrats to avoid a bloody primary and clear the field for U.S. Rep. Edward J. Markey in a U.S. Senate special election left at least one would-be candidate grousing yesterday - and some Republicans downright gleeful.

"They are freaked out," state Sen. Robert Hedlund (R-Weymouth) said after U.S. Sen. John F. Kerry, Victoria Kennedy and the party's Senate campaign committee all rushed to back Markey, a consummate Washington insider. "Let them coalesce and let them have a non-primary situation and keep the rust on him," Hedlund said of the 19-term Democrat, who has never had a serious re-election fight but would likely face battle-tested Republican Scott Brown in the race to fill Kerry's seat. "Fine by me. You're going to have a huge contrast in how those two will campaign."

U.S. Rep. Michael E. Capuano - a potential Senate candidate despite his loss in the primary during the special election for U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's seat - was clearly miffed by his party's rush to back Markey. "It seems that the big names of our party are trying to choose our nominee for us. When I became mayor of Somerville, the establishment wasn't with me," Capuano said in a statement.

Rubbish. Mass voters just elected a faux indian, dyed in the wool marxist, carpetbagger to the Senate instead of re-electing local boy Scott Brown. These same nitwits also voted for Tierney whose family ran an illegal multi-million dollar gambling operation. (Tierney's wife was convicted and went to jail. Tierney played the Sargent Shultz defense.) It would not matter who the Dems put up, they will win. The state is lost. Takers outnumber producers.

Right now my feeling is that I won’t vote for another republican unless they are part of a genuine movement to find out the truth about Benghazi. Until then I have to presume they are all part of the same conspiracy that allowed 4 Americans to die and created a complete fiction to cover it up. Scott Brown will certainly not be an exception to that rule. He exemplifies everything wrong with politics. His latest knee jerk reaction to assault weapons being a perfect example. I really don’t know why he just doesn’t run as a democrat.

Hussein was recognized as the most leftist while in the Senate. So much for that.

Bobby, get your head out of your ass. Scottie “Special Election” Brown hasn’t got a prayer. The demonrats are going to bring in Axlerod again and go for broke.

The MA GOPE brain trust will be meeting in the broom closet of the Newton Marriott trying to find a chairman who doesn’t personally contribute the maximum amount of money to the likes of Chuck Schumer. Then it goes downhill from there.

In the meantime, the Kenyan with the priapatic ego is going to get a new slogan out of this. Remember, LiL Barry Patrick’s campaign, “Yes we can” or Dizzy Lizzie Warren’s campaign, “You didn’t build that”?

Red Markey, senior venereal wart of the MA congressional delegation, will be the next junior senatorial embarrasment from the People’s Republic of MA.

Now, I’m going to go throw up.

Didn’t even bother reading beyond that.

He’ll be elected easily.

It’s Massachusetts….

Scott Brown couldn’t beat Elizabeth Warren who isn’t even from around here. She is a proven liar and is as liberal as they come. The Democrat Machine will ensure Markey wins and Brown will finally be relegated to the dustbin of history after it chews him up and spits him out...again. Good riddance.

Brown turned on Republicans the minute he hit Washington. Republicans will not support him.

My wife disagrees with my enmity towards Scott Brown. She says it's better to have him there as he'll vote with Republicans.

I look at history and say, no...he won't. He hasn't. Some of the votes he has cast disgust me.

Fool me once, shame on him.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

Screw him.

I am not a Mass. resident, but if I were, Scott Brown would not get my vote.

If I vote for a Republican I want a Republican, Not one in name only. Brown has shown his colors, andit wasn’t pretty.

Still recovering from voting for Romney. Never again.

Let the Dems fight it out. Brown will win a non Presidential year election, even in MA.

Markey’s only private sector job, prior to becoming a congressman, was as an ice cream truck driver. So he’s got a shot, since he’s a commie.

Your wife is WRONG is disagreeing with your deep dislike for Scott Brown. However, she is RIGHT believing that he is better than any Democrat currently residing in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts.
The problem: Who else is there who ends his/her name (R)? and could possibly win?

I fail to see how being an ice cream truck driver translates to being a commie. An ice cream truck driver is an honorable profession and requires one to work hard. In fact they bring joy to both parents and children ( especially during summer ).

I would not spend one thin dime in Ma. Supporting any republican. Waste of money. A liberal Brown could not out liberal Pocahontas. Waste of money.

That would all make sense ... if ice cream weren't a Soviet plot ...

MA dems typically turn out in low numbers in non-Prez election years.
