In China, a kitchen cleaver is the weapon of choice. Not very long and pointed, is it?

Don’t forget all of those rocks just lying there on the ground waiting to be picked up and used as weapons.

I found out something when I was supervising a packaging line... when you eliminate the bottleneck, i.e. the one thing that is slowing the whole line down, you know what happens? You get another bottleneck, which is the second-slowest step in the process. Eliminate that, and you get a third bottleneck, and so on. As you do this your throughput gets greater and greater, but you should never believe that you are going to eliminate the last bottleneck. That's impossible.
Banning weapons is like that. The choice of weapons is irrelevant to a person's decision to commit murder. You may eliminate the weapon, but you should never believe that you are going to eliminate the last murder.

The BBC article cited in this link is more than seven years old. Did they ever ban knives?

UK considering banning long, pointed kitchen knives for the past several years.Good thing the UK has already trained those electric bench grinders not to grind points on those long blunt bread knives.

When I was a kid (back in the early 60's) I read a Chinese children's story about a king who was paranoid about being assassinated. Someone tried to assassinate him with a knife, so he outlawed those. Then someone tried it with a fork, and he outlawed those too. Finally, someone tried to do him in with a spoon and he did away with those. So people had nothing to eat with, and so they invented chop sticks, the word "chop" supposedly means "good".
I doubt if there is any basis in fact to this story, or even if it is actually a story from China, but it occurs to me to be an object lesson on how those in power fear the people and will go to ridiculous lengths to take all power out of their hands.

I have a very expensive collection of laminated steel Chefs Japanese knives, that they will pry from my cold dead hands.

After theyve banned long, pointy kitchen knives, are they going to ban sharp pencils? Nail files? Screwdrivers? Fists? They can keep banning all these objects, but people will always find other means of inflicting injury or death if thats what they really want to do.Do you have a permit for that length of steel pipe?

I live in England, and I read somewhere recently that they are planning on banning citrus fruit for health and safety reasons. Apparently the juice could get into someone’s eyes, so they aim to make it to where only licensed people can buy citrus fruit, after they have completed a health and safety course on how to properly cut citrus fruit, and of course they will be required to wear safety goggles, and Kevlar gloves, and the correct ear protection, and steel capped boots... The UK is a hopeless boob, they try to ban everything. Dumb@$$ Brits

Kitchen Knife Ban? But you see, Constable, this is my Drawing Room Knife. So it’s all perfectly legal as you can see.
