Boehner calls for 'discussion' on guns

Republicans need to "have a discussion on guns" in the wake of last week's grade-school massacre in Newtown, Conn., Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told his conference Tuesday.

Speaking to his troops at a closed-door meeting in the Capitol, Boehner was mindful of conservatives' traditional opposition to new gun restrictions, emphasizing that Republicans wouldn't do "anything knee-jerk," according to a lawmaker in the room.

But the Speaker also said he wants to "de-politicize" the issue of gun violence, which has been thrust dreadfully into the national spotlight following the murder of 26 people — 20 of them young school children — at Sandy Hook Elementary School last Friday.

You know what? I’m wondering if anyone on the Republican side believes ANYTHING is worth fighting for? Anything? Or is every principle, every value subject to “compromise”?

This is what is so disheartening. There seems to be no one on our side with conviction and the raw courage to stand for those convictions. The men in this society have become nothing more than eunichs.

An Obama Phone awaits you.

Well, if the Republicans are going to give away my guns, I might as well get something out of the deal. My Verizon bill is $150 a month!

This clown cannot have a talk about budget cuts, but he is open to a conversation about our rights. I knew Obama was a communist, however I expected Boner to at least understand one issue. This clown needs to go...and I don’t care what cliff we toss him off. OUT!

I don’t believe the GOP House members have gone public yet with their intentions....Hannity didn’t mention names.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the TEA Party members dumped from their committees by Boehner were amongst the sixteen.

I really hope they succeed.....Boehner gets worse by the day.

I think we should demand that Republicans have a discussion on removing Bonehead, I just don’t see how he representing us in good faith or with intelligence.

Boehner never passes up a chance to get kicked in the ass by the Democrats.

I’m this close to giving up on the Republican Party.

Has everyone forgotten this pathetic p.o.s. blubbering and sobbing the night he became Speaker of the House?

how can anyone be remotely surprised that this worthless ankle-grabber and pillow-biter is selling us all down the river every chance he gets?

I am beyond done with the Republican Party. They are over.

These idiots in Washington are afraid of the public. They jump every time some bunch of cranks starts yelling for something.

“How did this pantywaist become Speaker?”

He represents the goals and ideals of the GOP leadership.

Sounds to me like that's code for, "I want Republicans to adopt a position that can't be distinguished from that of Democrats."

In other words, let's all be one big happy liberal party up here on the Hill.

Whenever Boner wants to "have a discussion," he means "capitulate." But, I'm willing to discuss it with him.

Boner, you are a whiny, spineless, unprincipled, crybaby, POS, pillow biting, 0bama loving, little _itch. Leave your grimy paws off my money and my guns; beyond that GFY. It was nice discussing this with you.
