The only problem I see with this, and I am in favor of it, is that there are some students who believe their lot in life is to try to drive the teacher bonkers.
I knew a woman teacher about 50 years ago, who said in one rough Texas school, on her first day she introduced herself, then picked up a stick of firewood and said..”I know some of you have been rough on the last teacher. If anyone wants to try me let’s do it now!” She never had a problem with anyone in the class.
So the teacher says at the start of the first class... “unruly students get shot!”
(Heh heh heh)
Seriously the teacher need say nothing. Just bring some of his (or her) targets in and hang them on the front wall.

Like the retired Marine that had back surgery that required a lightweigh plastic upper body cast.
He showed up for school. and had a mixed crowd of older teen age boys.
He kind of shied around the class (purposely letting his guard down) and someone threw something in his direction.
He acted fidgety, stood up and his tie came out of his jacket.
He was trying to discipline the class and correct his unruly tie when he reached down, picked up a large stapler, and proceeded to staple his tie to his chest.
Nary a peep the rest of the year.
I am an old native Texan and I was in school (50’s to 60’s) EVERY teacher had a paddle and used it regularly.
For some reason I got the paddle more than others. I can’t imagine why but it “adjusted” my attitude on a regular basis.
