NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - Abraham Dickan, 79, of Utica, was angry with the employees at AT&T in New York Mills - anger that he had shown them many times before, but never in the way he did on Thursday, May 27.
Shortly before 1 p.m. on that Thursday afternoon, Dickan walked into the cellular phone store on Commercial Drive, with a .357 magnum in his hand, and a list in his pocket containing the six names of the AT&T store employees to which he was holding such deep anger, and planned to kill as a result.
"The suspect had no prior history," said Lt. Troy Little of the New York State Police.
That man with no prior criminal record walked into the store and shot Seth Turk, a store employee who was doing no more than working at a computer at his job. Authorities believe Dickan could have been even more successful with his list of six victims, if not for the instantaneous actions of Rome Police Officer Donald J. Moore, who was off-duty, but in the store as a customer at the time of the shooting.
"He heard and sees the gun, draws his weapon, and fired," Lt. Little said of Officer Moore's reaction.
Officer Moore was carrying his own .40 caliber handgun.
"It's his own personal choice," said Moore's boss, Rome Police Chief Kevin Beach. "We do encourage our officers to carry off-duty."

I don’t like AT&T either.
at should be as
I wonder how many more of these stories are spiked by the MSM? How many have I missed?
This proves that the solution is in allowing the citizen to defend himself. If the violence continues, people will just defy the law to protect themselves and their families whether Bloomie and OB like it or not.

357 magnum, hmm...
Android still apparently in denial about metric.
I think COX employees are worse than AT&T employees.
Sounds like it to me. If the off duty cop were not armed, some employee in back would be calling 911 while innocent employees and susters were shot.
I wonder if the store was a gun free zone? Reminds me of the Virginia AutoZone case where the employee saved the life of his boss only to get himself fired by the store management for bringing his gun into the store.
Better to be tried by 12 than buried by 6.
AT&T has a no tolerance policy toward guns. I saw the sign on their LaFayette service center. I guess their sign wasn't large enough for Dickan, because if he knew he would never have brought a gun onto AT&T property
I don’t think our local store has a no guns sign. I make a point of checking for that.

So do I.
Not that I don’t want to be going against their wishes, just that if there is an alternate I will just take me and my ‘friend’ elsewhere.
However when will everyone wake up to the fact that -for the most part- where I am ‘allowed’ to carry it really isn’t necessary, where you REALLY need it, it is against the law?
DUH>>>>>>>>
79 and still a cranky old dude - I seriously hope to be way more chilled at 79.

Well there's the problem then. THEY DIDN'T HAVE A SIGN! If they'd just advertised their policy, then the guy wouldn't have dared bring a gun ito the store.
i don’t like em either but that’s just epic fail.
