Maybe your conservative your ears need cleaning. They seem to think liberal lovefests are conservative.

I have no idea what you are trying to do with this line of attack by berating Jim and then me. Perhaps we should drop it and do something else now.

Typical Republican quitter. Hide your head in the sand all you want but you’re represented by liberals calling themselves conservatives. So, yes, let’s quits this game and start a new one. Take it all down. I have nothing to lose by it and everything to gain.

You’ve already convinced me. I won’t be voting for Jim DeMint because of this alleged bad showing of manners on RL today. He’s just another typical Republican Senator/politician; I hear ya.

I made the mistake of watching ShepLib tonight. He couldn’t resist ending his segment on DeMint with “and what a pretty penny he’ll get” for the move to THF. What a d!ck. He belongs on MSNBC.

Hey,

If it gets Nikki’s picture in more papers across the nation, well, yummy.

“We will need him @ Heritage for when the E-GOP implodes and we finally move out from the Divorce they gave us a long time ago and try to build a new Conservative Party.”

The Divorce is coming, but it’s going to be a lot bigger than the useless gop.

“WHY is he doing this? DeMint is the best guy we had in the US Senate!”

Because effective, honorable people like to work in effective, honorable organizations. He just got a heck of a promotion in my view. And he’s a smart guy: he can read the writing on the wall.

Ask yourself: would you want to work with people like reid, mcconnell, schumer, warren, mccain, etc on a day to day basis? And be forced under the senate rules to treat them somewhat respectfully?

“Nope.......It won’t work and would just split the vote unless the dems had a similar situation, which they won’t have for some time to come.....”

Huh? Why would we give two hoots and a holler if the vote WERE split? The dems and the pubs are cut of the same cloth.

“I’m not sure how to take this news.”
Me either because I hear DeMint was friends with Reid and people grew mad with Rush Limbaugh interview with him. Then also comes word Tim Scott wants to replace so that sounds good. Nor do I know why he wants to got to the Heritage foundation.

I think this is a good thing. The conservative movement now has a leader. Let’s get behind him!

DeMint is one of the few Republicans in Congress who understands the larger numbers involved in our fiscal and monetary situation.

As such, after Obama won re-election, I think that DeMint could see that the jig is going to be up - soon - and before his term was up.

If I were in his situation, I’d be looking for the exit as well. When the crap hits the fan, people are going to be looking at Congress with some real hostility, especially the conservatives who have been screwed by the GOP leadership. In consideration of that coming storm, I think DeMint looked at the situation and said “better to be outside of Congress, but still have a soap box” than inside Congress and be responsible for doing something about which nothing can be done any longer.

Thank you. My experience since I moved here in 2003 is that attitude is pervasive. Also infectious :)

If you are implying that conservatives need to divorce themselves from the Heritage Foundation, good luck. Care to add the Federalist Society to the list?

Jim DeMint is a man with a vision. He knows what he wants, and he wants America to be safe, and secure in its constitution. He’s a true Conservative IMO, and this move by him tells me that he has looked at the overall picture, and is convinced he can do more for his vision for America with The Heritage Foundation than he can remaining in the United States Senate until his term expires.

That is a damned shame, but I believe this man is doing exactly the right thing in his opinion for the fight.

Can't blame him.

He's getting out of dodge and far away from Washington before the crap hits the fan.

Other than a few of our friends, allies and Australia ? the rest of the world can go to hell !

I have long believed that the only real way to shake up The People of America will be a honest-to-goodness depression - the type where people don’t have enough to eat, and people die from exposure. Something like that has a tendency to focus minds and instill in youngsters the value of working hard. It also has a tendency to get governments at all levels to prune out wasteful laws and regulations. The closer to collapse of the whole system, the more of the latter effect occurs. Though the ‘30s Great Depression is what most of us think of when we hear the word, it is not the only depression that has occurred in this country.

Pray that no world power (or opportunists like AlQueda/Muslim Brotherhood) are able to take advantage of the chaos which will be rampant in the US while we undergo the coming depression.

The election of Reagan in 1980, and his effectiveness, delayed for a couple decades the recession is now, finally, likely to occur.

If you see that DeMint writes on his blog anything to further explain his decision, I would really appreciate a ping to that effect, letting me know about such an event.
