Dick Armey resigns from tea party group (FreedomWorks)
CBS ^ | 12/4/2012

One of the most influential - but behind-the-scenes - leaders of the tea party movement has left the organization he helped to build. Former Rep. Dick Armey, R-Tex., resigned from the tea party umbrella group FreedomWorks at the end of last week. A spokesperson for FreedomWorks confirmed to CBSNews.com that the organization "accepted his letter of resignation."Mother Jones Magazine first reported the story and obtained a copy of the letter Armey sent to Matt Kibbe, the president of FreedomWorks.

The separation appears to have been tenuous and Armey told Mother Jones that the organization was taking an "unproductive" direction.

When asked by Mother Jones if the election results played a role in Armey's dissatisfaction with the organization, Armey said, "Obviously I was not happy with the election results," adding, "We might've gotten better results if we had gone in a different direction."

It would have been nice to know specifically the problems with the relationship, and how it could effect in Mr. Armey’s perspective the future of that group, or say any further spontaneous TEA Party movement.

To state simply it could have gone in another direction leaves us all hanging.

What specifically was the problem. I don’t follow Freedom Works as I don’t believe any organization under the guise of the title of TEA Party is legitimate, nor do I follow Dick Armey since his retirement from Congress.

Freedom Works was founded before the modern Tea Party movement of February 08.

Agree 100%. Tea Party rallies that are truly “grass-roots” and leaderless are the most effective. Hoping there will be a resurrection of spontaneous tea-party rallies in the days ahead. Though on same days I feel like it, we must not give up the fight.

Ok, Thanks for that, but I still don’t know why Armey has quit. For what reason is more important than that he quit.

As I said I don’t follow Freedom Works (I understand due a mistaken impression), but I still haven’t followed the organization, therefore I don’t know if they too are members of the RINO class of 2012, or if they took a turn, or are in the process of taking a turn toward the RINO pens, or has Dick Armey become a barker for the RINO circus?

Curious. What the “H” is going on? Need reasons, not inuendo about a different direction.

“As I resign from all board positions and duties, please see below a list of dispositions on outstanding issues: I expect to be fully compensated through the expiration date (December 31, 2012) of my current consulting contract with FreedomWorks,” he wrote. “Henceforth FreedomWorks shall be prohibited from using my name, image, or signature in any way or for any purpose without my written permission or in the event of my death, without my heirs written permission.”

He asked for his name, image, and signature to be removed from all FreedomWorks materials — “letters, print media, postings, web sites, videos, testimonials, endorsements, fund raising materials, and social media.”

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/local-news/20121204-dick-armey-resigns-from-tea-party-group-freedomworks.ece

The Associated Press reports that he is leaving “under a secret deal that will pay him $8 million,” representing consulting fees paid in annual $400,000 installments, a payout backed by a conservative financier Richard J. Stephenson, founder and chairman of the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Stephenson serves on the FreedomWorks board of directors, and the AP reports the secret deal was cut in September and requires Armey to resign by the end of November.

Armey’s Nov. 29 resignation memo, obtained by Mother Jones, reflects serious unhappiness. He demands the group immediately stop using his name in any way, removing him from all “letters, print media, postings, web sites, videos, testimonials, endorsements, fund raising materials, and social media, including but not limited to Facebook and Twitter.” He also wants his official congressional portrait delivered.

SeeBS will always report on any news item reflecting dissention and division in the GOP ranks (even if and when it doesn’t really exist). In fact, they cackle gleefully whenever that happens.

Dick Armey — Most masculine name in the history of man, IMHO.”

...while Dick Butkis includes most of the human anatomy.

Can't leave former Michigan Lt. Gov. Dick Posthumous out of this discussion.

“under a secret deal that will pay him $8 million,”

Well, we know what his incentive was to be at Freedom Works and so, what did he do exactly to merit such a high sum of money?

“Henceforth Freedom Works shall be prohibited from using my name, image, or signature in any way or for any purpose without my written permission or in the event of my death, without my heirs written permission.”

And why would they want to use any part of his persona for any reason? Why all the fanfare?

Lets be realistic......the Tea Party has become a noose around the Republican’s necks. Remember the MSM, well they immediately declared a racial war between America and the tea party, aka the KKK. How about all the violence that took place at the rallies and town hall meetings? Well it worked and now the tea party is considered a far right wing fringe kook group. If there is to be war, it needs to be against the real enemy, not Dick Armey.

Because the tea party was only a (sputtering) movement in 2012, it was powerless in getting us a conservative president.

It can, and needs to, do more.

Armey’s a bit like Newt in that way—flawed, but has made some real contributions.

Rush has been shilling for these clowns at Freedomworks. Army is slimy.

Since rush admitted on the air after the 2006 elections that he is compelled to carry water for whoever he is told to carry it for, if he's been supporting army it's because the establishment has told him to do so.

Yeah, I know, criticizing limbaugh here is tantamount to painting a pentagram on the Vatican, but I don't have a lot of trust in him.
