Japan’s highways have been constructed to be earthquake resistent (and also soundproofed in some areas). The highway system was financed with debt, and earthquake and sound proofing added greatly to the cost...

No humans were trapped?

The article didn't mention this (said there was lots of smoke coming from the tunnel).

Nothing can be earthquake proof, just earthquake resistant. :^)

The headline does just say cars were trapped.

Prayers up for any humans that might have been with the cars.

Sounds like the collapse just got cars, but no drivers... and just got smoke, but no smokers.

Doesn’t sound like it was being used for parking, though maybe/hopefully people managed to clamber out of the wreckage/rubble.

People dying is a source of humor for you?

It appears you are one of the few who take it seriously. What the heck is wrong with people sometimes?

FEMA inspector told me we wouldn’t have lost any roofs from houses on the Gulf Coast during Ike if we would have had hurricane proof shingles. Turns out he was from California and he told me that all the construction in California is now hurricane and earthquake proof. Told him I didn’t realize California had hurricanes and his response, “Well, you never know”.

Did you know Pete Hoekstra was one of two congressfolk told about Israel’s fixit with Syria on 9/6/07? He says some odd things from time to time, but seems to be the most plugged in with NATSEC.

If you can’t find things to laugh at when the world becomes increasingly grim, you’ll be a sad, sad person.

So find something humorous. I don’t find the idea of fathers, mothers, and perhaps entire families being crushed and then burned to death to be funny.

You may think it makes me a sad person. I think making fun of it is sick and degenerate.

Do you also joke about 9/11 or is it just when Japanese people die that you laugh?
