Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) warns that the Obamacare tax hikes set to kick in at the start of 2013 are "a big part of the fiscal cliff" that will hurt those in need of vital medical equipment.
Today, Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Jordan issued the following statement highlighting the $1.058 trillion in higher taxes coming from ObamaCare over the next ten years. Many of the tax increases take effect on January 1, 2013:
"ObamaCare raises taxes on middle-income families, employers and investors. It hikes taxes on people with no health insurance, people with too little insurance and people with too much. Taxes are even going up on pacemakers, prosthetics, and other vital medical equipment."
"The ObamaCare tax hikes are a big part of the fiscal cliff. Stopping them should be part of the solution."
Sometimes people are encouraged to “vote with their feet” ... but this is not always possible.
When Obama voters’ mothers and fathers start dying because of the rationing of Obamacare, the taxes on their needed medical devices and taxes on their ‘cadillac’ insurance plans, they will finally see what they have done to this once great nation...................
This is what happens when you “...pass it and find out what's in it later”
AND Republicans are still sitting there like a bunch of mute, halfwits.... until the house falls on them (and us)!!!!
Obie wants the weak to die as quickly as possible.
Never forget, this is the same person who voted repeatedly to deny care to the baby that survives an abortion. Just let them die on a metal table. One more cold blooded SOB he is.
Most affected? Those who can't get what they need because the devices will be rationed.
Glad I got my pacemaker last month.
Knew there had to be a bright side to having that procedure done. Now I know what it was.

Many of the Obama voters don’t know her their fathers are so they won’t care about what happens to the sperm donor. Given that many of them are raised by their grandmothers, they’ll probably only care about their mothers if granny isn’t around to babysit and they rely on mom. To the extent these voters rely on Medicaid they won’t care about taxes on private cadillac plans or medical devices since they will have no visibility of these taxes. It is all free to them.
The only thing about Obamacare that may make these people angry is having to wait longer for care. No doubt the government will figure this out and start forcing doctors to practice in the public health centers and hospital emergency rooms where the urban voters get their care.
With respect to the cadillac plans of public and private sector union workers, the taxes have already been delayed and will be postponed again when the deadline approaches for them being taxed. The cost of taxes on medical devices will be passed through to the government or the company by the union plan.
The wealthy Democrat elites (politicians, academics, trust fund babies, media stars, and Wall Street bankers will be able to afford exclusive private clinics that are invisible and inaccessible to the middle class. No doubt the major university hospitals will have special wards with a different level of care.
To most Obama voters, health care will be wonderful in coming years.
How better to make healthcare more AFFORDABLE than taxing medical equipment?? snort
400 MA companies in this field and the dimwits voted Scott Brown out who was trying to save these jobs.
And the voters rejected him -- because he was an extemist. A zealous right-winger. A "teabagger".
They felt much more comfortable with someone like Elizabeth Warren.
A friend who works for the Medical Device association here in DC told me that new products / devices that were already in the works will continue research and development for the next five years. All future new r&d will happen overseas b/c the taxes placed on medical devices under Obamacare. This is his livelihood yet he voted for Obama. Go figure...

I work for a “medical device manufacturer” and the early estimate is Obamacare’s hidden medical device manufacturer tax will hit us to the tune of $40 million annually.
yeah, can’t wait for the layoffs.
The Obama Wooden Leg Tax.
Sounds like a political winner to me /sarc
Individual pieces of Obamacare should have been made major issues of the campaign to simplify and show just how much in harms the “ordinary American”...not just collectively referring to the bill as “Obamacare” and how you want to “repeal it”. You have to explain WHY it has to be repealed. This should have been hit up on as the “Obama medical device tax” (or whatever Congressmember supported it) and explain how it harms the sick and injured who need this care - because it does - not only by making it more expensive, but also less available because the companies are scaling back operations (which also results in people losing their jobs and prevents new jobs from being created).
Once that narrative has run its course, move on to how to the bill took away choice of lenders for college students taking out student loans.
Then move on to how it blocked the construction of new hospitals - perhaps show someone arriving to a vacant lot for treatment where a medical center could have stood.
Then how it has taken away health insurance policies at low cost for poor college students.
Took away child only health insurance policies. And so on. Simplify and illustrate with real world examples people can actually understand. That was a completely lost art this election cycle and extremely frustrating.
Some of my friends who vote straight Dem tickets say it was a “great day for America”. I ask them what that means. They have no answer.
Now you get to start worrying about how long it will last.
Unfortunately, no black market in pacers (AFAIK).
