In an interview with NBC Washington, NFL sensation Robert Griffin III ("RG3") told WRC-TV sports reporter Dan Hellie that his biggest fear coming to Washington, D.C. to be an NFL quarterback was God.
Hellie asked the Washington Redskins' star quarterback, "Everybody fears something. What was your biggest fear coming to Washington, D.C., to be an NFL quarterback?
"You try not to fear too many things. I fear God," Griffin responded.
"RG3" also told Hellie that he fears his parents saying, "you don't want to let people down, and some would say that's pressure, but I didn't fear it.
"I just wanted people to know that I don't plan on letting you guys down and I don't want to let anybody down, so that's why I work hard. That's why I believe in myself and I trust myself when I'm out there on the field."
Robert Griffin III was selected by the Redskins in the second pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. Prior to the draft, Griffin played college football at Baylor University and won the Heisman Trophy in 2011.
What I am saying is that the word translated as ‘fear” in the Bible has an alternate translation word that is “reverence” or “respect.” While it has been traditionally interpreted as fear, my experience says that is is impossible to fear God and Love God at the same time.
Since God is perfect Love and perfect Love casts out fear, it is not possible to experience both at the same time.
When a person holds on to fear, it creates a space in their soul where Love cannot exist. A “dark spot” or “sin” in their soul. When the Holy Spirit flows through me, it is Love that heals people as it removes these obstacles to Love that are causing the illness.
Cancer is just one illness that I see created by fear in the soul. Fear is much like judgement as they both block Love. That is why Jesus said, I do not come to judge, but to save. When the Holy Spirit removes cancer, I have had people open their eyes and exclaim that it feels like a hot knife in their body as the Love transmutes the energy of the illness.
How does Jesus save? By offering us His Love to remove fear doubt and judgement in our souls. Thus He says, “You are forgiven” when He heals and then says “Go and sin no more” meaning stay clean.
Fear lowers the operational frequency of a person’s soul and creates an anchor, making it more difficult for that soul to communicate with the much higher frequency spectrum of Love.
If I say a prayer for a fearful person(a silent one), they usually start to tremble as their physical body, when experiencing fear creates much resistance to the higher energy of Love. This resistance to Love is the reason that giving a prayerful blessing to an evil person is like placing hot coals upon their head and is also the reason that the weeds will be burned in the end times.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.
This should be common sense it is so simple.
When I am removing a demon from a person, it is the Love flowing through me that creates fear in the demon and makes it obey my commands. If I lowered my self to the level of fear, that would be to the level of the demon and I would lose as they would have no fear to motivate them to obey.
If you are experiencing fear, then you are truly not born again of His Spirit.

This is very true for the Old Testament” and those who try to be saved by the Law. But since Jesus came as our savior, we follow those same laws out of Love rather than fear. Not one dot of the law has been removed.
This is addressed in Galatians 5 and other places in the NT. It’s the reason why Jesus answered the Pharisees when they ask Him what the most important law was with the statement in Matthew 22:

34 When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, 35 and one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” 37 He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
Allow me to ask you, do you want your children to follow your household rules because they fear you, or because they love you? It is the same with God.

Close. It's call theology. The highest, purest truth. For those who have the ability to go beyond the constraints, and limitations, of empirical study.
So you’re saying that every Bible that translates the word as “fear” — KJV, NASB, ESV, NIV, NLT, ASV, Douay-Rheims, ERV, etc. — is in error.
You’re saying that all the biblical scholars that affirm the translation of the word as “fear” are incorrect. You alone are right.

Or maybe your pride, combined with past injuries and offenses, is keeping you from delving deeper into the mystery of the fear and love of God.
Again, yes, God is love and in one sense there is no fear in love. But at the same time, God is fearfully wonderful. And we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
By distancing yourself from the word “fear” and “fearful,” you are missing out on the fullness of the mystery of God.
Fearing God is not just an Old Testament doctrine. It was not thrown out with the Incarnation and Crucifixion.
The following NEW TESTAMENT verses affirm the fear of the Lord:
Luke 1:50: “His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.”
Luke 12:4-5, where Jesus Himself says: “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.”
Acts 9:31: “Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened; and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord.”
Acts 10:34-35: “Then Peter began to speak: ‘I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.’”
2 Corinthians 5:11: “Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.”
Phillipians 2:12-13: “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
1 Peter 1:17: “Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.”
1 Peter 2:17: “Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.”
Revelation 14:6-7: “Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. He said in a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.’”
Revelation 15:4: “Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
Revelation 19:5: “Then a voice came from the throne, saying: ‘Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!’”
It is good to wrestle with the concept of “fearing God,” rather than dismiss it as being opposed to loving Him. After all, it is the beginning of wisdom.
Theo, I ask you simply, How can you fear someone whom you Love with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul?
Think about it.
And, fear of losing someone is NOT fear of that person. I fear losing my connection with God, but I could not fear God.
In order for you to follow what Jesus said are the two most important commandments, Love would have to equal fear.
In all of the scriptures where the original word translates to “reverence” you can substitute the word “Love” and it will not change the meaning.
Yes, that is indeed something we have to wrestle with. It is a difficult doctrine.
I, for one, am not going to change the words of Scripture as you are advocating. I must instead allow the words of Scripture to change me.
The fact remains that the word “fear” is indeed included throughout the New Testament, and we are admonished by Jesus and His followers to continue to fear God (as well as to love Him).
If you want to discard the thoroughly biblical, though admittedly difficult, doctrine of “the fear of the Lord,” that’s up to you.
Theo, first I would like to thank you for the exchange of ideas and thoughts. I always enjoy a discussion that looks at the supporting facts and also the context. I really do try to keep an open mind and consider all points of view.
I also consider the Bible as the inspired word of God and use it as the operating manual for my life. Thus I try to see where I or others may have mis-interpreted it either through the language translation process or just in culturally biased interpretations of the times.
When I really started experiencing direct communication, it threw me several curve balls where my actual experiences differed from what I was reading in the Bible. In each of those instances I went to word origins and found there was an alternate interpretation of the original word that fit my experience. I believe in reading the Bible and praying for guidance.
I’m a big Dallas Cowboys fan but I respect RG III.

The church is falling because we do not hate evil enough. Instead we excuse it. We've turned away from wisdom.
There are different kinds of fear just as there are different kinds of love. Jesus himself tells us to fear Him. And no man has ever feared Him like Jesus did sweating blood in the garden and He simultaneously loved Him.
