THE INDEPENDENCE STATE
No graphic this time, but this is a serious post. I swear to G-d I don’t understand why these freepathons take so long. No matter what happens, when FR is running great, thousands of posts every day, come hell or high water, about any and every subject under the sun and it’s just a given that FR will be here and SOMEONE will be interested in whatever. But let FR slow down, or heaven forbid, stop, it’s like watching a school of fish suddenly make a right turn and head directly for the backup site in a panic. “Is FR down?” “OMG, FR is down!” “Has anyone heard from Jim?” “Is John working on it?” “How long is it gonna be down?”
You can feel the jonesing in the air and the longer FR is down, the worse it gets.
Then at Freepathon time, the school of fish seem to swerve on a different direction entirely. Let someone else do it. The freepathons take longer and longer, but I read posts where someone just bought this or that or something frivolous and I always wonder if they have donated here. Then there are the posts from blog pimps who don’t even link to us who expect free hits from FR most of whom have never contributed a single cent, and that just drives me nuts.
I know a lot of us don’t have much and some have almost nothing to spare, but it doesn’t stop them from soliciting posters for help and ‘donations’ for themselves as they post hundreds of posts from a hooked up computer they MUST be paying to get on the net, but FIVE dollars a month is too much to ask?
It’s wierd that people post from iPhones and tablets with apps that cost a mint but cry poor during the ‘thons.
Every day that the Freepathon goes on, I get more and more frustrated. It’s like waiting for the hurricane to actually hit, or the tornado to be on top of your house before you seek shelter...and then wonder why your kid got blown out into a field.
It just makes no sense to me.

It does grind on and sometimes feels like it will never end but every quarter about this time as the remaining balance left to go drops into the single digits, then less than 5k, 4k, 3k, etc, I no longer feel just that, “we can do this,” but instead my heart bursts out into cheerful song, “We’re going to make it after all.”
Banning all those anti-Newt supporters then the Romney supporters didn't make much sense either. Maybe the site could send out emails to all those folks, inviting them back.....
If that doesn't work then FR needs to either lay off some staff members or take a pay cut like the rest of the companies in this country are and will be doing........
