The Obama administration issued new rules Tuesday that require insurance companies to cover people with preexisting conditions one of the most popular provisions of President Obamas healthcare law. The Health and Human Services Department also began to implement other popular, but expensive, parts of the Affordable Care Act. Regulations released Tuesday will prohibit insurers from charging women a higher premium than men, and will require plans in every state to cover certain services.

My pre-existing condition is oceans of debt. Now cover me!
It's now illegal to charge women a higher premium than men for medical insurance just because they use more medical services.
But it's still perfectly legal to charge men more for life insurance and car insurance because they cost more to cover.
This is welfare, but it isn’t anywhere near “insurance”, by miles.
Pay the bill, suckers. Oh, my.
Not in socialist California. Auto insurance is unisex rated. Also, I fully expect unisex rating legislation on all insurance products including life insurance nationally. Just a matter of time.
So, the ACA is still being written, long after it was passed. That is an abomination unto itself, that the House and Senate of the USA passed a bill that was not in any way complete. I’m not up on the rules of Congress, but that certainly it seems as if passing laws that are not even written yet should not be legal. Not that it’s ever stopped this bunch before.
Pelosi told the truth (for once) and it served as a warning, when she said it would have to be passed so we could see what was in it.
Whether you're getting $1000 a month or $2000 a month...everyone pays the $105 out of their SS check.
With so many seniors now on SS, this should be rather lucrative for the government....which is probably why Obama robbed 2% of the SS Fund for the last 2 years.
Also, first time SS paid out more than it took in.....and no one noticed.
Great news. Obamacare is collapsing. Only 14 states agree to fund Exchanges and 30% increase in poverty level medicaid. Its is becoming clear that it is over for this program. And the Supreme Court ruled states cannot be punished in any way.!! 20 states have clearly opted out. Sabilious had to extend the deadline to opt in until December 15. It was embarrassing obammy how few had agreed to get screwed. This is wonderful news.Obamacare is finished!!
I bow to your superior knowledge of insurance pricing in different states. Lots of states do still allow this discrimination.
If I remember correctly, teenage boys have something like 5x the property damage rate for car insurance as teenage girls. Who bang up quite a few cars themselves.
That's just a name game. In actuality, the higher premiums for the men are paid for by the higher premium they charge women to cover the difference.
The same will happen in health insurance, everybody will pay an equal but substantially higher premium.
Socialism makes everybody equally miserable........
For decades now, Congress has written "laws" that consist of a vague goal and authorization for federal agencies to write regulations to implement that goal.
Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act are great examples. CWA originally covered only “navigable waterways” and now covers anything wet, or even dry land if cattails or other ‘aqueous” plants grow on it.
I want pre-existing coverage required when I sign up for Car Insurance.
(*Hic!*)
Really Ocifer! I only had like mebbe a cupla beersSSs!
We're going to need multi-terabyte hard drives if we ever tryt to download the final copies of everything.
Nope. ObamaPhone Lady won't pay a dime for full coverage.
Reap the whirlwind slaves! That is now my standard response to anyone that has any complaint about higher costs, higher taxes, etc.
They were quiet after that.
They were quiet after that.
So now, a man who is not ever going to encounter pregnancy costs is paying for women’s costs for pregnancy. That is the main difference between male and female insurance costs. I know from buying insurance for employees in the past. At one point, we had five men and one woman, and hers cost more than the rest of us combined.
This isn’t insurance any more. It is just cost distribution...and there is no personal accountability on costs...each person gets services, and the whole population is going to split the costs equally. All costs will go up and scarcity will soon ensue, creating less supply, longer waits and even higher costs. Brilliant.
They were quiet after that.
I am surprised at least one didn't argue until blue in the face that it wasn't true. Too many have completely abandoned logic and common sense in our society.
“HHS said it will allow plans to charge a higher deductible in order to meet the technical standards for a low-cost policy...’Otherwise, the math doesnt work,’ Cohen said.”
The math still doesn’t work, buddy.

What I’m wondering now is this: in cases where someone is paying premiums that exceed the cost of the Obamacare penalty, wouldn’t it make a certain sense to just drop your health coverage? Since pre-existing conditions can no longer be refused coverage, wouldn’t it make more sense to pay the penalty and then enroll in a plan if and when you get seriously ill?
The term 'insurance' is not relevant to FORCED, nationalized health care. Call them 'coverage' companies.
Requiring companies to cover people for things that happened last year. Brilliant.
The reason they want pre-existing condition coverage is to eventually complain about the cost of them. Some day these people will be referred to the death panels. The death panel will determine that your newly discovered stage 3 or 4 cancer doesn’t meet the cost/benefit analysis, and you will be prescribed pain killers.

And, they’ll use the same argument. Compassion. Out of compassion we need to cover these poor souls.
Future: out of compassion we need to ease their suffering out of this world.
Why can't Republican politicians be as good as you at making a point on an issue?
This will collapse the insurers which is their goal...
I thought the 1996 HPPA law did that already...
There's your tax “younger, healthier people”. To all the fools that voted for Obama, look in the mirror and say “dumb ass”.
this was withheld until after the election, of course. no one called them on it.
and the obamites couldn’t stop talking about mittens’ “hidden” tax returns. the only thing “hidden” from us was what he was planning on doing to our health care as soon as he was safely reelected.
So do these rules not apply in states that have refused to set up Obama’s exchanges?
I feel bad for all the youth, and people after, who will never have known the joy of living in a country that was free, wasn’t completely broke and had a ton of cutting edge industries that served the population brilliantly.
are you kidding? They will force it through.
Communal Communist Obamanation Revenge File.
Tell your friends that you hope they enjoy the *Medicaid* they voted for.
Yes, yes this will affect all insurance companies in all states and territories in the country.
The next question to ask is if the ObamaCare waivers for 2013 will allow those who receive the waiver to waive off the Pre-X regs.
This has turned into the enslavement of able bodied working aged males. They will be doubly burdened by the normalized premiums, both by gender nuetral and age nuetral normalization.
Expect to see the numbers of uninsured younger working age men in this country to skyrocket over the next 5 years , to at least double the current levels. Paying the yearly fine will be substantially cheaper than carrying the insurance.
This is exactly what happened in Massachusetts due to RomneyCare, and it will now spread throughout the country.

I can't wait to see the look on Sandra Fluck's face (actually, I can wait) when she finds out her insurance premiums are going to pay for me to have Viagra.

True. Or call them payers. The next step is single payer which is the overt goal of Obamacare. The final step is nationalized medicine since the single payer will dictate everything.
Yep, and there's another goal after that.
I take Synthroid for a thyroid disease, and as such I take medication daily and will continue to have to do so for the rest of my life. I also need to have a blood test every so often to check those levels to make sure they’re where they need to be.
Screw Buckwheat’s Nazi decrees. It’s time for states to arrest federal fascist bureaucrats and send them to prison. Ninety-nine years with possibility for parole in 100 years.
Expensive and affordable? Only in the mind of a liberal.
Are you saying that EVERYONE will have to pay this Part B coverage at $105 a month?
I don’t carry it and I know others who also don’t carry it.
Some of them are covered by the VA, so for them it is definately a coverage they don’t use.
I am healthy enough to not spend the money. I have been on Medicare for over 8 years and I haven’t used a penny of it.
