HHS releases rules requiring pre-existing conditions coverage
The Hill ^ | 11/20/12 | Sam Baker

The Obama administration issued new rules Tuesday that require insurance companies to cover people with preexisting conditions — one of the most popular provisions of President Obama’s healthcare law. The Health and Human Services Department also began to implement other popular, but expensive, parts of the Affordable Care Act. Regulations released Tuesday will prohibit insurers from charging women a higher premium than men, and will require plans in every state to cover certain services.

Regulations released Tuesday will prohibit insurers from charging women a higher premium than men

It's now illegal to charge women a higher premium than men for medical insurance just because they use more medical services.

But it's still perfectly legal to charge men more for life insurance and car insurance because they cost more to cover.

This is welfare, but it isn’t anywhere near “insurance”, by miles.

Pay the bill, suckers. Oh, my.

Not in socialist California. Auto insurance is unisex rated. Also, I fully expect unisex rating legislation on all insurance products including life insurance nationally. Just a matter of time.

So, the ACA is still being written, long after it was passed. That is an abomination unto itself, that the House and Senate of the USA passed a bill that was not in any way complete. I’m not up on the rules of Congress, but that certainly it seems as if passing laws that are not even written yet should not be legal. Not that it’s ever stopped this bunch before.

Pelosi told the truth (for once) and it served as a warning, when she said it would have to be passed so we could see what was in it.

Here in Pennsylvania they installed "gender equity" in car insurance rates many years ago (and my two daughters got royally SCROOOOOOOD as a result)

Medicare Part B Premium for 2013 will be $105 a month.

Whether you're getting $1000 a month or $2000 a month...everyone pays the $105 out of their SS check.

With so many seniors now on SS, this should be rather lucrative for the government....which is probably why Obama robbed 2% of the SS Fund for the last 2 years.

Also, first time SS paid out more than it took in.....and no one noticed.

Great news. Obamacare is collapsing. Only 14 states agree to fund Exchanges and 30% increase in poverty level medicaid. Its is becoming clear that it is over for this program. And the Supreme Court ruled states cannot be punished in any way.!! 20 states have clearly opted out. Sabilious had to extend the deadline to opt in until December 15. It was embarrassing obammy how few had agreed to get screwed. This is wonderful news.Obamacare is finished!!

I bow to your superior knowledge of insurance pricing in different states. Lots of states do still allow this discrimination.

If I remember correctly, teenage boys have something like 5x the property damage rate for car insurance as teenage girls. Who bang up quite a few cars themselves.

That's just a name game. In actuality, the higher premiums for the men are paid for by the higher premium they charge women to cover the difference.

The same will happen in health insurance, everybody will pay an equal but substantially higher premium.

Socialism makes everybody equally miserable........

For decades now, Congress has written "laws" that consist of a vague goal and authorization for federal agencies to write regulations to implement that goal.

Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act are great examples. CWA originally covered only “navigable waterways” and now covers anything wet, or even dry land if cattails or other ‘aqueous” plants grow on it.

Great. First a massive unread bill that no one can understand. Now another 300-400 pages or so of rules to implement what's probably a few pages in the bill.

We're going to need multi-terabyte hard drives if we ever tryt to download the final copies of everything.
