Ted Cruz: “I’m pretty certain Mitt Romney actually French-kissed Barack Obama”
Conservatives4Palin ^ | November 17 2012 | Doug Brady

Posted on 11/17/2012 7:28:15 PM PST by Bratch

Heh. Too funny to pass up, and sadly apt given the Mittster’s “the president exudes an air of likability and friendliness, which is endearing” nonsense.

Cruz said that conservatives failed to make their case to the American  people, leaving Romney no choice but to move toward the president. “We didn’t  win the argument, we didn’t even make the argument” throughout much of 2012,  Cruz said.

But in the first debate, he argued, that changed.

“It was the one time we actually contested ideas, presented two viewpoints  and directions for the country,” he said. “And then inevitably, there are these  mandarins of politics, who give the voice: ‘Don’t show any contrasts. Don’t rock  the boat.’ So by the third debate, I’m pretty certain Mitt Romney actually  French-kissed Barack Obama.

“I have no doubt that there is a focus group somewhere of undecided Ohio  voters who have been living in a cave for the last 30 years, who decided they  liked that,” Cruz continued. “‘Don’t show any disagreement whatsoever with the  president. Don’t rock the boat. Just be a nice guy.’”

[...]

Cruz said centrist strategies were doomed to fail Republicans, who should  instead focus on a simple motto: “Our ideas work. Theirs don’t.”

I can’t disagree with any of that. Senator-elect Cruz, like Governor Palin, tells it like it is and isn’t one to make nice with those on the Left who are hell-bent on turning American into an also-ran. Democrat-lite loses every time it’s tried, and those in the GOP Establishment who continue to argue for that approach must be ignored if the Republican Party is to survive.

Conservatism didn’t lose on November 6th, it wasn’t even advocated. Ted Cruz has a “Palinesque” knack for using humor to get his point across. The more I learn about him, the more I like the guy. The Governor hit a home run with her “game-changing” endorsement of Cruz in his race against the GOPe’s preferred candidate, David Dewhurst.

As long as I live, I will never understand Romney’s 3rd debate. He acted like he did not want to win.

I agree. Watching that debate, I thought Obama was terribly behind in the race. He was flailing to score points, Romney just took it all, and didn’t hit Obama on much of anything, other than a repeat of economic failures. It is clear now he was still behind at that stage, and that makes no sense.

He thought he had it in the bag and was trying not to make any waves at all, I assume.

Romney had the air of “I’ve made my case. I don’t need to knock Obama down on his butt”. He acted as if he were the incumbent, and big media conservatives came out with a thousand hosannas. The slobberfest was a little embarrassing to watch.

Sure looks presidential. And I sure think it’s time we moved away from GOPe. Cruz had to fight the Bush/Rove wing. Dewhurst his primary opponent had all the right GOP endorsments. Cruz had TEA and Sarah.

We might need to keep our eye on this guy.

Forget it, Cruz was born in Canada, not eligible for POTUS.

American citizen mom, foreign father dad. Seems like i’ve heard this saga before. So he’s eligible now,, precedent set if we need it. I say his citizenship is natural born, through his citizen mother, no matter where she had him. He never had to become naturalized to be a citizen.

And there is no codified law, or definition of NBC in the constitution that says differently.

To ignore the GOP establishment means to ignore all Bushes in the future—that means Jeb and his son George P. The Bush’s are the ultimate establishment Rinos.

This Romney-bashing is ridiculous, when in fact he ran well ahead of his party from coast to coast. The party pulled down Romney, not the other way around. Check the senate disasters in both red and blue states.

As to the 3rd debate, Romney’s polls had him up. He wanted to avoid another set-up by the MSM to hurt him on Libya, as Candy Crowley had done with Axelrod in the 2nd debate. Moreover, it was a tactical decision to come after Obama from the left on several foreign policy items to help close the gender gap and keep the hard Left at home - disgusted w Obama over the economy and rationalizing that Romney wouldn’t be a hard liner on foreign policy.

This was a strategy much like Reagan vs Carter: reassure women he wasn’t a warmonger.

We now know that Obama’s ground game was so superb that it didn’t matter how awful Obama was in the debates.

The bottom line in 2012: Romney was better than his own campaign; unfortunately Obama’s campaign was much better than Obama. Incredibly better.

Out 120 million votes, a switch of 432,000 votes in 5 states and Mitt would now be president-elect.

Yes, in retrospect the tactical decision for the 3rd debate was a terrible mistake, then compounded by Sandy, but is has to be seen in context at that moment.

And Romney made the 3rd debate decisions himself, because he was livid w Candy Crowley and didn’t want to get railroaded again.

I am still studying the various specifics of the vote. I have a suspicioun that evangelicals yet again didn’t bother to vote, probably because of Mormonism, and I hope every one of them loses his job in the next 12-18 months as we enter the double dip. Idiots.

It’s unbelievable that this nation would re-elect this thug and ignorant juvenile delinquent. We are in deep trouble.

Personal life

Cruz was born and spent the first four years of his life in Calgary before his parents returned to Houston. His father was jailed and tortured by the Fulgencio Batista regime and fought for Fidel Castro in the Cuban Revolution[39] but "didn't know Castro was a Communist" and later became a staunch critic of Castro when "the rebel leader took control and began seizing private property and suppressing dissent."[40] Rafael Cruz moved to Austin in 1957 to study at the University of Texas. He spoke no English and had $100 sewn into his underwear.[41] The elder Cruz worked his way through school as a dishwasher making 50 cents an hour. Cruz’s mother, who was from Delaware, was the first person in her family ever to attend college. She earned a degree in mathematics from Rice University in Houston in the 1950s, working summers at Foley’s and Shell. Cruz has said, "I'm Cuban, Irish, and Italian, and yet somehow I ended up Southern Baptist."[42]

Cruz and his wife, Heidi Nelson Cruz, have two daughters, Caroline Camille and Catherine Christiane. Cruz met his wife while working on the George W. Bush presidential campaign of 2000. Cruz's wife is currently head for the Southwest Region in the Investment Management Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. and previously worked in the White House for Condoleezza Rice and in New York as an investment banker.[43][44]

The constitution says Natural Born Citizen and doesn’t define it. That is left to legislation.

And then Title 8 of the USC- lists several ways of being a citizen- all of which are considered natural born and eligible for President.
One of them is-

Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)”

He would be ruled eligible by the USSC. There simply is no codified law that makes him ineligible.
