ARBIL, Iraq The president of Iraqs Kurdistan region has ordered its peshmerga security forces on high alert, a statement issued on Saturday said, attributing the move to clashes with central government forces.
An Iraqi general however said that the clashes in question came during an arrest attempt and did not involve the peshmerga.
Tensions between Baghdad and the autonomous Kurdistan region in northern Iraq have been running high after the establishment of a new military command covering disputed territory, and over various other long-running disputes.

Peace is just breaking out all over the place, thanks obummer
The Kurds may be the only sane folks in the region. They just want to be left alone.
there is something about Obama that everything automatically goes wrong when he is given any authority or responsibility. In the industrial world I ran across a few who had that magic about them. Usually they were out of business school with a few years experience, and sent in to manage a plant. If it was a good, efficient running operation before long it was screwed up.Obama is that kind of person

Besides conveying the message that its a VERY BAD IDEA to F with Americans, this would have rewarded Turkey for their last minute duplicity of cutting off our access to northern Iraq with an autonomous Kurdistan on their southern border.

Except the over educated tyros aren’t deliberately trying to destroy the company.
All we had to do in Irag was kill Hussein. They would have easily taken care of the rest.
God Bless the Kurds.
In a very tough place, but they are very tough people.
I hope that they have all the hardware and ammo that they might need.
And Hammas, and Hezbolla, and Assad, and Kamenei, and Al Qaeda, etc.
The Kurds are the one group in Iraq worth assisting. The Arabs aren`t worth sh*t.
We will help everyone but the Christians. No one cares about Christians.
