Oddly enough, perhaps the biggest loser in last weeks Republican debacle wasnt even on the ballot. He didnt shake a single hand, nuzzle the napes of any newborn babes or promise eager voters pie in the sky or peace on Earth. His name was Karl Rove. And all he actually did was squander a staggering $300 million by backing candidates who turned winnable races into laughable routs, producing tepid ads transforming would-be zealots into couch potatoes and firmly establishing himself as the political worlds pre-eminent empty-suit analyst.
Perhaps even worse, he set himself up as the clearinghouse for wealthy conservative donors, hand-picking which candidates and super PACs to support and which to send away empty-handed. He convinced the GOPs high-dollar donors that he alone was the almighty architect the Rovitect, as it were who could single-handedly end President Obamas reign.
In so doing, he confirmed, as Bernie Madoff proved, that it is easy to con the wealthy 1 percent out of their fortunes if you claim to be an expert and create your own echo chamber.

Rove was scum 10 years ago. Amazing how many FReepers used to rave about Rove. Then again, they did with Christie, then Rubio...then....
... but... but... “unskewedpolls.com!” “Dick Morris!” “Karl Rove’s Marvelous, Magical White Board!” “MODERATES — !!!” ;)
why Hannity has him on his show is bewildering...
but for all practical purposes, the election was stolen....rigged....so all this hand wringing is just a side attraction....
everyone knows in their heart that Romney won this election, handily....
.....then Romney....
The “biggest loser” was the American taxpayer. Karl Rove made out like a bandit. Boggles my mind that he raised $300 million - love to see who got the placement commissions for the ads, the contracts to design them, etc., etc. His chubby fingers got something, I have to believe. The article’s analogy to Bernie Madoff is spot on.
” And there is one more thing the Rovitects did all too well: By persuading the candidates he bankrolled to run from conservative principles rather than on them, Mr. Rove thoroughly alienated evangelicals, Tea Party activists, a legion of young Ron Paulists and just about everyone else who might have provided GOP candidates a decisive edge had they been given even the slightest reason to go to the polls.”
If Rove isn’t on the DNC payroll, shame on him!
Yes, remember all that ‘Magnificent Bastard’ talk?
Many of us dropped the ‘magnificent’ part from day one.
And BTW, I know where that “then Rubio..., then...” was headed, and I am in total agreement.
Yeah......
Rove is part of the insider dead wood that the party has to remove if it wants to actually win again, and not simply be a minor opposition party.
He "lead" the country to slaughter, did alright for himself in the process, and now gets paid to comment on the results of his failure.
He epitomizes a Lost party, lead by losers, chasing failure...and catching it. Woohoo...who wants to be a republican???
Now can we have a party that people want to be a part of and fight for or do you still prefer the compromise with a greater evil so they'll like us party?
Have you gotten tired of having your values made fun of and your contributions taken for granted by a party that never liked you nor their most successful candidate?
” Yes, remember all that Magnificent Bastard talk?”
I remember too well. I always posted “Delete Magnificent”
Karl Rove--Dysron, Quack or Mole, and links to other articles with that one. The man is utterly clueless how to actually lead people to a correct understanding of the issues. He only chases after what was in the last poll sampling--absolutely pathetic.
William Flax
A fool and his money..........
Then Romney
Rove and his ilk want to take the GOP back to the Bob Michel/Bob Dole days.
remember when some FReepers literally fell in love with Scott Brown??
ugh
I remember..
