Most of my neighbors in Michigan certainly preferred him over Romney. He’s simply better at talking in a language the man on the factory floor understands.

In 08 Romney flogged McCain by 10 points in the Michigan primary. In 2012 Romney and Santorum tied.

To be fair to Santorum, HE never told women they couldn't use birth control. That was the MSM that started that...unfortunately people bought it.

Well I view santorum as one that got in the way of newt taking out romney. Not sure if newt would have beaten obama but one thing is clear - newt would not have held back and would have really taken it to obama. Also newt would explained and taught conservatism. Not sure it would have mattered but I would have loved to see those debates.

Personally I’d prefer some new blood to any of the 2012 candidates. But if we are going to recycle I prefer newt to santorum.

He and Bachmann proved to be nothing more than self absorbed backstabbing weasles. If either of them had any real accomplishments they could have run on them instead of rewiting the history of Newt's accomplishments as Speaker.

Mr. Sweater Vest even bragged about being part of the coup to oust him. Hey Rick, do us all a favor. Stay home and take care of your family. They need you, we don't.

Gee, I hope they start publishing daily polls about this matchup.

Well Romney couldn’t beat McCain in the previous primaries and he wound up the nominee the next time. The GOP isn’t called the stupid party for nothing.

Like that "stupid" Ronald Reagan who lost the primary in 1976 before winning in 1980?

The GOP was stupid to nominate Mitt Romney. It had nothing to do with how he did in the previous primary. It had everything to do with him neither being able to connect to the party's base nor to independents who look for "likability." The GOP sheeple listened to the party bosses and their media propaganda arms Drudge and FOX and nominated a big blue blood beltway bomb of a candidate.

Santorum probably would've won, especially since he could've made Obamacare an issue instead of mainly talking about how he was going to "keep the good parts" of it.

Santorum's biggest problem is him not having a great speaking ability, stuttering a bit. I hope he can work on that. He truly can connect to voters emotionally and as we saw this election, that is just about ALL that matters to the swing voters that decide these things.

I couldn’t have said it better.

->Me too. Hopefully he can sew up the blue-collar and Catholic vote and has a good working class story to sell and as fovorite son will bring back PA into the red fold.

Are you kidding me..he dropped out of the race before Pennsylvanians had a chance to even vote. Not even funny shameful.

Just what we don’t need—conservatives who can’t win splitting the field four years early!

There was too much bad blood after the last primary. We need fresh candidates for 2016. And not Jeb Bush!!!!

Santorum’s real problem is that like many social conservatives. He doesn’t want a smaller, less intrusive government, he just wants one that will advocate on behalf of the things he wants.

I agree. I was very much for Santorum over Romney, but next time around Santorum will be seen as far too conservative. We know he'd be fine, but the GOP elite will want to go with another squishy moderate. Hopefully more people have wised up to this failed tactic.

Santorum is NOT THE GUY !!!

I wish that these also rans LIKE ROMNEY would just sit down and STFU.

We get Bush 41, Dole, McCain, And now Romeny. Santorum thinks he has a snowball’s chance in hell?

We are doomed if we keep getting these guys who but for their own ego do nothing but clutter up the primary races...

God love Sarah Palin, she knew when to back off. She knows that until her image has been rehabilitated she will never get any widespread support...at least not enough to win a general election.

Santorum loved Romney in 2008, and Specter before that.

Santorum was a sitting Senator and lost by a bigger margin than Christine O’ Donnell when his state booted him out of office, in a history making landslide.

Santorum is very much a mushy fake and his career in politics is very similar to Mitt Romney’s, including the parts about being against Reagan, and switching to pro-life to run for office.

Santorum even endorsed removing abortion from the republican platform in 1996.

Santorum is a loser.

If Santorum is a loser, then Romney is the Anti-Christ.

Where the hell was Santorum when Romney was running?

Sounds to me like the selfish little prig wanted Romney to lose.
St. Ricky doesn’t play well with others, he took his ball and went home.
Besides, lille Ricky LOVES Big Government.

Newt was everwhere stumping for Romney.
