SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- When this sun-drenched exurb east of Los Angeles filed for bankruptcy protection in August, the city attorney suggested fraudulent accounting was the root of the problem. The mayor blamed a dysfunctional city council and greedy police and fire unions. The unions blamed the mayor. Even now, there is little agreement on how the city got into this crisis or how it can extricate itself. "It's total political chaos," said John Husing, a former San Bernardino resident and regional economist. "There is no solution. They'll never fix anything."

This is a crime of such an enormous magnitude. California was such an extraordinary place. So much going for it in terms of geography, resources, climate, etc. Liberals are turning this extraordinary place into hell on earth.
That's worth repeating.
Now, Now, Now! California is proof that “Our Diversity Is Our Strength!”
In the wake of 9/11 firefighters and police in NYC were heralded as heroes....and rightly so. Most of them had a great relationship with George Bush and he neglected no opporunity to commend them highly.
Enter Hillary as NY Senator. She turned this around by causing ranks of firefighters and police to think they were now entitled to more. She took advantage of the public unions to turn their ranks into a "gimme" society rather than public service.
Thousands of police/firefighters across the country take their cue from what happens in NYC which is highly regarded as the best in the world as far as law and order. Thus, even small towns like San Bernardino are now paying through the nose for these services.
Yes, Hillary knew exactly what she was doing!
It matters not (as you and I shall be bailing them out within the year)
The crime is headed straight towards the rest of us. When Cali finally goes under the fed/feds will bail them out at the expense of wiser states.
East and West Germnay used to be the perfect example of liberalism’s (read MARXISM) effect: same people, different economic systems, horrifically different results.
Everywhere DemonRATS have control, they turn it into Camden New Jersy, or East St. Louis, or WWest Philly, Gary Indiana, or Detroit.
There is not “little agreement” on how they got into this mess.
They can’t pay their obscene firefighter, cop, and city worker salaries and pensions.
There is no disputing that.
Government workers are bankrupting municipalities all across the country in slow motion. It’s just that California, as usual, is the bellwether for what’s coming to your state.
The voters in these liberal hellholes who voted for continually lib office-holders deserve what they voted for. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Forward comrades-—4 more years of additional ‘fundamental change’. Insanity rules...courtesy of unfettered LIEberalisms.
nuthin’ to see folks.. Just one more example of a success story of a train wreck of a liebral socialist gubamint hard at work.. move along uhhh forward!
All they have to do is tax the rich, that will fix it.
California has been the paradise to so many for so many years....in one generation, its gone corrupt, broke, heartless, and of course, democratic...
I blame the unions...the firemen, the cops, the teachers, the life guards, etc....all who have bankrupted that state now and for the long foreseeable future.....they knew better...
San Bernadino is a conservative town. So this isn’t a “liberal” problem.
The problem is cops/firemen/city workers demanding raises and bigger pensions.
They donate cash to the politicians who set the wages. The politicians — both liberal and conservative are happy to oblige the unions. Why shouldn’t they? It’s not their own money.
It’s legal bribery, and if you think it’s only certain “voters in liberal hellholes,” who are going to suffer, you better take another look at the books in your own city/state.
Government unions should be illegal.
Greed=Union
If this is inevitable, that wiser states will be forced to bail out states full of folly, I have a proposal, which may sound rather cold-hearted. I propose when such states are faced with natural disasters, as all states inevitably are, that people in wiser states donate money to a disaster fund that will be set aside to use when their own state needs it, rather than, and in the same amount as, they would otherwise be giving to the catastrophe du jour. Oooo, feel almost guilty for having this thought.
As a start, I would simply pass a law that in order to collect your full public pension, you must continue to live within the city limits. You move, you automatically take a 50% cut.
Note that the destruction is being accomplished first in the blue-collar cities of California.
