FBI reopening probe into Broadwell’s access to classified documents
Hot Air ^ | November 14, 2012 | Ed Morrissey

At first the FBI probed the e-mails of Paula Broadwell and CIA Director David Petraeus from a suspicion of cyberstalking and harassment. They then dropped the probe after determining that the biographer of Petraeus had a personal relationship with him, even though they discovered that Broadwell had classified documents on her computer. After the entire probe went public and forced Petraeus to resign, FBI agents suddenly conducted a seizure of materials from Broadwell’s home — which the Washington Post reports comes from a belated curiosity into her possession of those classified documents:

The FBI is making a new push to determine how a woman who had an affair with retired Gen. David H. Petraeus when he was CIA director obtained classified files, part of an expanding series of investigations in a scandal that also threatens the career of the United States’ top military commander in Afghanistan.

Senior law enforcement officials said that a late-night seizure on Monday of boxes of material from the North Carolina home of Paula Broadwell, a Petraeus biographer whose affair with him led to his resignation last week, marks a renewed focus by investigators on sensitive material found in her possession.

“The issue of national security is still on the table,” one U.S. law enforcement official said. Both Petraeus and Broadwell have denied to investigators that he was the source of any classified information, officials said.

It is? That’s odd to hear, especially since law-enforcement officials appeared to make it plain earlier in this scandal that no charges would be forthcoming. The Post is rather surprised to hear this, too:

Gen. David Petraeus, who has stepped down from his position as director of the CIA over an extramarital affair, said this week that he “screwed up big-time,” a close friend of the general’s told CNN.

“You know, he…expressed deep regret for what happened, the damage he had done and the pain he had caused his family,” said Ret. Col. Peter Mansoor, who served with Petraeus in Iraq. “He called his action morally reprehensible and said, in his words, ‘I screwed up big-time.’ And boy did he ever.”

Mansoor, speaking on CNN’s “Out Front” Tuesday evening, said Petraeus loved his position at the CIA.

“He really enjoyed his job at the CIA, it was the best job in the world, as far as he was concerned,” Mansoor told CNN’s Erin Burnett. “He had a good relationship with the president and national security team, and he threw that all away for…due to a personal failing. He is very, very down right now.”

The brain dead anti-ethical, amorality problem is at the center of all our other problems. Can’t get to one disgrace without bumping into the other. It’s digusting. But it is the condition of our elite class.

Are you surprised that the nonethics involved in permiting the murders of the US amassador and the Seals are also involved in alley cat sex (edgy culture) drama? I’m not. They are mostly skanks and it stinks up everything they do.

Let this be a lesson to you. NEVER get sick in the middle of fast breaking stories.
Am asking all pingees to check the keywords and if benghazi, all by itself, isn't in there, please add it. I have gone back and tried to get as many tagged as I can so it will show in the Benghazi Index which is linked in the ping graphic. That way no one misses anything even if I ain't around. Thank you.

Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise.

Obama voters want to know what is really important here. When Broadwell was on a military base, was she issued mil-spec birth control pills? Did she wear feminine under clothing, or did she wear Government issued skivvies? Did she run in formation chanting:

This is my rifle
This is my bun
This is for war
This is for fun

Good question. At the CIA Petraeus could not take his advisers with him, but was surrounded with WH insiders.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/01/24/2953553/petraeus-bio-takes-a-close-look.html

In June 2010, when President Barack Obama tapped him to take charge in Afghanistan for what would become Petraeus’ final command, Broadwell knew the time was right to parlay her dissertation into a biography.

Soon, she had an agent and a contract from Penguin Press. To help organize and write the book, she teamed with The Washington Post’s Vernon Loeb. Broadwell proved to be an “absolutely intrepid” reporter, Loeb says, dictating from airports, filling up his email inbox and delivering “this fire hose of information.”

Buzzfeed also reports that David Petraeus’s unofficial press agent, Tom Ricks, helped Paula Broadwell score a literary agent, a publisher and a six-figure deal for her biography.

Paula Broadwell, the author who allegedly had an affair with former CIA Director David Petraeus, is suspected of storing significant amounts of military documents, including classified material, at her home, potentially in violation of federal law.

A source familiar with case told ABC News that Broadwell admitted to the FBI she took the documents from secure government buildings. The government demanded that they all be given back, and when federal agents descended on her North Carolina home on Monday night it was a pre-arranged meeting.

Prosecutors are now determining whether to charge Broadwell with a crime, and this morning the FBI and military are poring over the material.

The 40-year-old author,... is cooperating and the case, which is complicated by the fact that as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Military Reserve she had security clearance to review the documents.

A little smoke and mirrors going on here:
From ABC

“...The FBI found classified material on a computer voluntarily handed over by Broadwell earlier in the investigation. ....”

Key word above is earlier. When was that? October 21? Wasn’t she cleared? Do we know where that computer was kept? I may have missed it, but has anyone stated classified info was found at her home computer?

Nothing is to be taken at face value.

Why? Because there is something even worse than this...

Fact One:

1) Only the POTUS can authorize a CBA (cross border authority) command for a rescue mission in a foreign nation.

Plus Fact Two:

2) No rescue mission was attempted.

Equals Fact Three:

3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.

Don’t forget that Susan Rice, she of the “It’s all about the video” world tour, was Sandy Berger’s aide back when Bill Clinton bombed the aspirin factory in Sudan.

Just pinging this again since Broadwell’s London ties remind me of the Papadopoulos - Aussie Amb. - London professor thing now.
