Despite uncertainty surrounding the fiscal cliff and whether or not President Obama can make "compromise" a theme of his second term, one thing is for certain: the Affordable Care Act, widely referred to as "Obamacare" is going to take effect. The lion's share of the law is to be implemented on January 1, 2014. The major tenets that will impact Americans include the individual mandate and the pre-existing conditions clause that will not allow insurers to refuse coverage to anyone, even if they are in poor health.
.........................................................
And once the law actually goes into effect it's the pre-existing conditions provision that has the potential to do a lot of damage to the consumer, according to Funtleyder. He says it is "likely insurance companies will raise premiums on everybody, given the mandate, to deal with the number of pre-existing conditions that come into the fold." And that is one of the many key criticisms of the plan: little to no direct cost-control.

Since I only use the Veterans Affairs hospital system, I don’t think ObamaCare affects me or those like me. Or am I wrong?
The media bottom feeders were as quiet as church mice until it was too late to stop it. Now come articles expressing concern.
I'm just waiting for the power to go out and the riots to start. I know right where I'm headed.
expect longer waits and less health care. There will be a point in time when there is no health care in this country. Learn to take care of yourself.
Where were Romney’s advisors?
How does that work?
Note to self: See doctor ASAP. Then take care of myself from here on out...next 20 years.
My brother is a doctor at a VA hospital. He does not think it will change much for VA doctors or patients unless funding gets diverted. For regular doctors you have huge new government agencies to be paid. Prices will go up. Payments to doctors will go down. Malpractice lawsuits will go up. No one will want to be a doctor and doctors will retire in huge numbers. Citizens will be paying a huge amount for care that will be heading toward nothing.
I did my annual open enrollment yesterday. Premiums up, deductibles up, max out of pocket up.
This was actually a brilliant move. Reducing the life span improves the financials of Soc Sec and Medicare AND more quickly kills off old white people who tend to vote Republican.
They've already advised against prostate cancer testing, thankfully I found mine this year.
don’t know, do you use tri care? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2935857/posts
Exactly. I have been saying for ever since it was voted in.
Oh it will.. it will push others that can use the VA but are currently using other insurance in to the line with you at the VA.
Think about it.
I have an unused VA homebuyer certificate.
Before Congress decided to twist the housing market “to be fair to poor people”, a VA chit was a benefit only a veteran could use for a zero or low down payments, no mortgage insurance required, new homeowner loan backed by the feds.
Do you really think the VA medical system, such as it is, is immune from any major changes when our entire healthcare system is being nationalized? ROTFLMAO!
Yes, I do think you are wrong.
...what IS going to be a hoot is when all the brothers who have no clue what is about to come down finds out that they "must" buy health insurance, or pay up.
...this just could be the "loophole" that extracts us all...riots by the moron brothers when they are hassled by an IRS agent trying to make them comply.....
Many horrible things are reality: Rape, murder, slavery, ObamaCare, and the like. That does not mean I have to lie back and accept those things, enjoy them, or celebrate them. They all exist. They all dehumanize. They all deserve to be resisted with every fiber of our being. But, yes, they are all reality that each of us may have to face . . . and resist.
Eat healthy, get exercise, take the best nutritional supplements, and look very carefully when you cross the street. The medical system is about the adversery of your health.
How will bammycare affect me... either the red pill or the blue pill, watch some cinerama with beautiful scenics while listening to a full dolby version of Beethovan's Pastoral symphony.
