In the post immediately below, Scott recaps some of the recent developments in the Petraeus scandal. I want to add one or two more, and also elaborate a bit on one of the items that Scott mentioned.
The most significant of the recent bombshells, I think, is the report that Eric Holder knew about the scandal as of late summer, when the FBI contacted his office to get permission to interview Petraeus and Paula Braodwell. Holder apparently claims that he never mentioned this potentially election-derailing news to his boss and good buddy, Barack Obama. I find this claimthat, while many others in Washington knew of the Petraeus investigation, including Congressmen like Eric Kantor, Obama himself was blissfully ignorant until three days after the electionwholly implausible, just as I find implausible the claim that it was sheer coincidence that the scandal didnt become public until then.
The least significant development, but one of the weirdest, is the replacement of the FBI agent who began the investigation on behalf of the bureau. The agent, whose name apparently has not been disclosed, was removed from the investigation after he grew obsessed with it, and specifically with Jill Kelley, to whom he sexted shirtless photos of himself.

Jill Kelley
The story I want to return to is the one involving another general, John Allen, who succeeded Petraeus as the commander of American and allied troops in Afghanistan. As a form of collateral damage, apparently, the FBI has found that General Allen, like the FBI agent, is obsessed with Jill Kelley. She must be quite a woman! Allen can be printed, in most editions, in under 1,500 pages. So what on earth were General Allen and Mrs. Kelley writing so as to fill up 20,000 to 30,000 pages? Poetry? Love notes? The longest military treatise ever? Assume it took General Allen a mere five minutes to either read or write one pageno doubt a low estimate, when it comes to writingand use the mid-point of 25,000 pages. That would mean that Allen devoted 125,000 minutes to his correspondence with Mrs. Kelley, or 2,083 hoursin other words, a full work year (40 hours times 52 weeks). No wonder we arent winning in Afghanistan!

wow.. human nature..who’d a thunk.. the difference is, thanks to American’s appetite for this crap, now we hear about it, 24/7.
And isn’t it convenient that all these higher ups are now so completely discredited, that they won’t be believed...and are now busy “putting their lives together” that they can’t testify?
They will all testify in a couple of years, when the whole thing is forgotten and the press has moved on.

I think part of the problem with our military is this long protracted nation building BS. Troops are going for multiple tours and families are being torn apart. They are away from their families over and over and sit in a backwards miserable land. Structure in all forms is breaking down.

Sure seems as though Kelley has been playing the role of femme fatale to a number of men in positions of authority. Maybe she’s just cursed with a come-hither projection, or maybe she really enjoys the attention.
Just an observation, not a condemnation.

We have a degraded culture. Affairs, sex and perversion have always occurred with people of power, but at least everyone paid respect to the idea of moral behavior.
Now, respect for propriety hasn’t completely disappeared, but it has obviously declined. Furthermore, sex, entertainment and pleasure-is everywhere in our society. Temptation is much greater, so odds are, more people will be caught by it.

I don’t want to paint with a broad brush here, but the idea that ‘leaders’, elected or unelected, are somehow the cream of the crop is just fantasy. Sometimes it’s not that the cream that rises to the top, but that s**t floats.

I guess the thing I never realized is that Holder has run the FBI for 4 years. In four years, you can gather material on virtually every enemy that can possibly arise. They hold the strings on every player in this government except possibly the most squeaky clean. Regardless of what goes down, none of it will ever touch Obama. This is now Venezuela.

Democrats saved this juicy little story until after the election so that CNN could salivate over sex instead of asking questions about Benghazi that need to be asked.
As far as I’m concerned, the General (and the other one for that matter) can or could screw anyone they want with no more repercussions than Bill Clinton’s blow jobs, or the buggering Obama’s CINC directives now condones.

I believe we are witnessing the beginnings of a culture decaying from within because it has replaced the Judeo-Christian worldview with secular humanism.
Let’s look at what America has become and what is coming soon. First, we have killed off ONE-SEVENTH of our population! And we not only acknowledge it but call it a constitutional right. And one of our major political parties is completely beholden to it.
Second, we can no longer say that it is only courts that have redefined marriage. Several legislatures-elected representatives of the people-have done so, with more to follow. The ultimate effect will be destruction of the institution of marriage, the most necessary institution to keep civilization from collapsing. Research the statistics on what happens to children born in a 2 parent nuclear family versus a single mother.
Our current rate of illegitimate births is in excess of 40% and trending upwards. Also, our overall birth rate is declining which is an indicator of a country in decline. So, we have an even greater percentage of children being born outside the family, with the resultant increase in criminal behavior, sexual promiscuity and other social pathologies, and decrease in educational achievement and professional success.
The behavior of Petreaus et al is merely in line with what the culture of America has become.
Now that I’ve livened up everyone’s day, go take on the world.

This should come as no surprise. Obama & the RATS hate the military & Obama is doing his best to dismantle & degrade it.
When we elect a Commander In Chief - who could not even pass a background check, himself, there is temptation to 'follow the leader'.
Think about it. Is their behavior any worse than what Obama has been doing to our country?
Their behavior is about sex - Obama's behavior is about TREASON.

The end result is the same. The patriotic and "unreliable" soldiers are disgraced and removed, the toadies are installed, and absolute power is cemented. Then the gulags start filling.

Holder’s apparent failure to bring this IMMEDIATELY to the Current Occupant of the Oval Office was not an oversight. The information was getting to the real power broker there, Valerie Jarrett, and was also going out the pipeline to David Axelrod, even though he is not “officially” in the White Hut any longer.
It is as though the Chicago Mob were now holding the White Hut as their own fiefdom.
Obama is now largely a figurehead, useful only as a mouthpiece for the Mob, which is why he has to keep the earpiece in and read what is scrolling past him on the Teleprompter.
When Obama goes off-script, the powers behind figuratively start crapping bricks.
Which are useful later, when broken in two and used as ammunition to launch at anyone making an assault from the outside.
