ABC ^ | 10/16/12 | Devin Dwyer

President Obama tonight said he’s interested in seeing an assault weapons ban reintroduced, breaking his silence on the legislation, which has persisted in spite of at least five mass shootings during his term.

That was only funny the first time I heard it.

How many decades ago was that? You'd think that these people would tire of it...but amazingly, they don't. They think it's clever.

What a magnificent, simple, subtle symbol.

Quite frankly, not that I favor such bans, but a decent resistance can use “non-assualt” weapons to procure all the “assault’ and fully-auto stuff they want. They’ll be no shortage when SHTF, I expect.

I’ve noticed this, too. The last few gun shows had recording devices all over the place. The promoter claims no cameras are allowed inside but they weren’t hard to find. They didn’t look like facility cameras but temporary ones and they were high quality, meaning I suspect they were LEO/FLEO cameras.

The gun shows before 2009 were a bit weak on attendance but the ones since Obama took office have been packed, elbow to elbow. Dealers that I know say sales have been up and steady. Prices on firearms haven’t climbed much, either. Ammo, of course, has gone nuts but I handload which drastically offsets the cost of shooting.

Funny thing, just the other week ago, there I was out in the Atlantic in my rowboat deep sea fishing, having brought along my whole gun collection for, well you know, you never know about those monster squid or something, and then out of nowhere comes Hurricane Sandy,,, and then a Tsunami, and then another tropical storm.

Well to make a long story short, my rowboat overturned and I had to ride on the back of a couple killer whales to get back to shore. Almost didn’t make it. Too bad about my guns though. Lost ‘em all.

"They think it's clever." It tells me their level of stupidity and immaturity to think this is some kind of a joke, a game for children. When the blood spills they'll simply think it is an overreaction. They are content being serfs, thinking life is a dress rehearsal subject to “do overs” and more time. They know nothing of history and the violence of it all and the willingness of their liberal friends to use it. When they are lined up against the wall to be shot they’ll think it is just a “scared straight” moment.

Cute game they will think...

Until the shot rings out...

And they lay dead in the dirt. Fun and games are over.

They thought "Lost 'em in a boating accident" was cute and funny and would make those mean old bad guys go away, but the orders were "Get the guns or shoot them."

Why did you put today’s date on an article that’s dated 10/16/2012?

Why did you post an article that’s almost a month old in Breaking News?

This is the kind of stuff we need to hear from Obama to ensure good election results in 2014.

That’s not what the Constitution says. The Constitution says “two thirds of *those present*.” Not two thirds of the entire body - two thirds of those who are actually present.

A quorum of the Senate (the minimum needed to conduct any business) is 51 people present. The Democrats have 54 now.

Assuming that there are 51 Democrats present and no Republicans, which is easily done through clever scheduling and other tricks that the Republicans can’t/won’t challenge, it then only takes 34 yes votes to get a treaty through.

They have pulled similar tricks before on legislation important to them where they don’t care about bipartisanship and they needed 2/3rds of those present.

NOW do you see how screwed we are?

No, I live in Texas. Texas as a whole should pull the eject handle first. Then if that doesn’t work, well....

I think you are being unnecessarily alarmist.

Yeah, they could try that. But they won't. The Senate and the House both follow published schedules of business.

Checked any on-line ammo sites lately? Lots are sold out and nearly all have announced major price increases.

Glad I stocked up during Anklepants’ reign...
