Because the deeper you get into petraeus, the closer you get to earlier administrations...and betrayal. Do not forget that it was the nsa and state who tried to utterly destroy Bush on Iraq and Iran.
Where did saddam’s weapons go BEFORE our teams had a chance to search for them, and who oversaw that project?

This is only a plausible explanation if he is signaling to Republicans that he would be willing to testify. There is no reason to believe the FBI investigation would surface if he told the 0bama administration he was willing to continue to play ball.

There is more to this story.

I would agree. His emails may have prompted an FBI investigation but I doubt that's what led to his decision.....

I suspect that Petraeus was being pressured by the whore to divulge classified information and realizing that he was now a national security risk and subject to blackmail, he abruptly resigned.

Your argument goes against his revealing the affair, not in favor of it.

If true, he would be more likely to have become aware of skeletons in the closet once he toke over as DCI. Consequently, the regime would have been much happier to allow him to leave with vague "personal reasons" of an unspecified nature so that they could continue to hold the affair over his head.

I have read the NewsMax article, and I think the FBI did know about this affair in real time. According to the article, the FBI suspected the issue in the Spring 2011. Petraeus was commander in Afghanistan at that time. 0zer0 appointed Petraeus to CIA in April 2011, but he didn’t assume the office until Sep 2011.
The article says the FBI was investigating this for months because Petraeus was sending thousands of emails to her. That had to be in 2011. This means that the FBI had to know what was going on in real time, probably even before Petraeus was confirmed, and that is why they couldn’t believe 0zer0 wouldn’t fire this guy, let alone hire the guy.
I don’t see any explanation other than 0zer0 knew about this (or someone high up in the admin did, and didn’t tell anyone... meaning FBI director, or Holder, or maybe the National Security Director hid it). But I can’t believe 0zer0 didn’t know. In fact, I bet 0zer0 counted on this trump card to be used against Petraeus when he needed it, and Benghazi is it. The timeline proves it.
Whether Petraeus has any smoking gun information and will spill it is completely unknown. But for me, I am convinced that 0zer0 knew about the affair and saved it to use later. The fact that 0zer0 would appoint and retain an obviously compromised CIA director, confirms everything you need to know about 0zer0.

If true, that is all the more reason to let him depart in peace with the threat still hanging in the air; it does not answer the question, which is why did he preempt them?

Is their anyone in the US government that has not been compromised in some way or fashion ? Are they not the number one target for the worlds largest population of foreign spies ?

Odd the Commander in Chief does not fall under the UCMJ...

I honestly wonder how he would even pass a TS background investigation to get clearance. He has so many missing gaps, foreign connections, "lost" records and transcripts - a shady character, if you will... Anyone who is on an intel committee and/or has access to classified intel should have to pass an investigation - including POTUS.

Absolutely no way he could get a TS...we chatted a lot about this back before his first election.

And now we have dozens of people around him that could never pick up one as well, yet they are as$ deep in our business.

“How many empires destroyed, countries lost, fortunes stolen and lives ruined due to women?”

“More men have been destroyed by women than wars and pestilence.”

I forget who said that. It was either Shakespeare, Churchill or Patton.

Why would the FBI be looking at an Army Officer? That doesn’t normally happen. An affair would normally go to Department of the Army Inspector General (DAIG), the office that handles investigations into generals.
Maybe the FBI was looking at her?
