Gasoline Rationing Comes To New York
Zero Hedge ^ | 11/08/2012 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 11/08/2012 4:38:57 PM PST by SeekAndFind

From the mayor who made owning an 18oz+ container of coke a summary offense, comes this:

Effective 6 am 11/9: drivers in NYC whose license plates end in an even number or zero will be able to buy gas only on even-numbered days

— Mike Bloomberg (@MikeBloomberg) November 8, 2012

Drivers in NYC whose license plates end with a letter will be classified as “odd” and may only buy gas on odd-numbered days

— Mike Bloomberg (@MikeBloomberg) November 8, 2012

In case anyone gets any ideas, the NYPD will be there to enforce counting skills:

NYPD officers will be deployed at gas stations, but we expect that NYers will respect the rule and work together to ensure compliance

— Mike Bloomberg (@MikeBloomberg) November 8, 2012

Finally, so solly, but no tickee, no gasee

This is not a step we take lightly. But given gas shortages and the growing frustrations of NYers, we believe it’s the right step.

— Mike Bloomberg (@MikeBloomberg) November 8, 2012

NYC, NOT NYS.

If you want to own a car, don't keep it or use it in Manhattan.

What about vanity plates with no numbers?

Didn’t this entire area just Vote to Re-Elect Obama?? I guess the wildest Storm/hurricane in a long time wasn’t enough warning for them. and besides they should be thrilled at the oppurtunity to participate in the new Green Economy where Petroleum Powered Vehicles are the ENEMY. They should be Proud of their Achievements and Walk,Bicycle or use Mass Transit for everything just to support their President and his WAR ON OIL AND COAL.

Since Tuesday I’ve been just a tad less sympathetic to the people on the eastern seaboard. They’ve still got my sympathy and desire to see them helped, but my tagline is on my mind these days.

Government inability to respond to one crisis becomes a second crisis.

Lovely.

Cops deployed to babysit gas pumps sounds like a burglars’ charter.

I'm not looking for any sympathy from you, but if you had been into some of the areas that don't have power yet you would understand. About 1/2 mile from my house there is (or I should say was) a 120 year old Lighthouse. It's missing all that's left is the rock it was built on.

In Brooklyn, they turned on the power without warning, and almost set several co-op buildings on fire. All of the below ground electrical is contaminated with salt water, and most of the above ground wiring is damaged in large areas.

Keep in mind that this area is much more densely populated than down south, and almost every structure has a basement due to subfreezing winter weather.

They’re going to have to shut off the meters building by building individually before putting the main power back on, and require each building to get an inspector’s okay before switching back. It could take months.

Why not A-M = even, N-Z = odd, no that would be too easy

Yeah, it did.

By shockingly high numbers at that, with the exception of Long Island where it was just a couple percentage points.

What idiots.

Vanity plates are considered to be odd.
Try telling that to the guy that starts with CMH.

Yep. I have been enjoying Bloomberg as mayor of NYC. In my opinion he needs needs to continue on the same track.
For the record I don’t live there.
Also enjoy the new marxifornia taxes.
Of course the very wealthy only need to live there 6 months a year to avoid the state taxes.

"What about vanity plates with no numbers?"

I heard a woman on the radio say she was confused because they didn't explain if the regulation referred to the last number of letter. (I think she was an Obama voter)
