Ron Paul: "Election shows U.S. 'far gone'"
Washington Times ^ | 11/8/2012 | Stephan Dinan

Rep. Ron Paul, whose maverick presidential bids shook the GOP, said in the wake of this week's elections that the country has already veered over the fiscal cliff and he sees no chance of righting ship in a country where too many people are dependent on government.

"We're so far gone. We're over the cliff," the Texas Republican told Bloomberg Television's "In the Loop" program. "We cannot get enough people in Congress in the next 5-10 years who will do wise things." The video can be seen at http://www.bloomberg.com/video/ron-paul-on-fiscal-cliff-and-vows-to-compromise-MYkAiqYBTaiHwXZL9Tvxkw.html.

FYI - I voted for Ron Paul in the primary but RR in the general election.

He is dead right in this article.

It may be too late.

Rep. Ron Paul.

You are PART OF THE PROBLEM.

You are a big reason obama was re-elected.

You could not bring yourself to support and help Romney. Millions of your followers stayed home.

I am sure you feel pretty smug about yourself.

Now we have obama for 4 more year.

NOW YOU CAN SHUT THE F*CK UP.

Eff Ron Paul. He sat this out and threw tacit support behind Gary Johnson, possibly costing us a state or two.

It is never too late. This is making me mad now. Sure I felt a little sorry for the conservative cause but it is time to lick our wounds and move on. There is plenty to do. We lost the election ourselves. Don’t think for a minute that the Republicans chose their candidate. The dems did it for us. Do you really believe that Gloria Allred ruined it for Cain right before the primary because she was doing us a favor? She was getting rid of a threat to Obama. Our candidates were eliminated one by one until the only one left was the one Obama wanted to run against. We get upset that Obama leads his flock around by the nose but he did the same thing to us. He led us right to Romney. Wake up and learn from the mistakes we made. Never again.

That’s what I just posted on another thread. His fiscal stances are right, he is on the wrong side of security and doesn’t admit the evil in the world.

The same political party that pushes global warming to a cult-like fervor on the basis of almost no legitimate research denies the immediate catastrophic rush to an economic fireball that is based on evidence and numbers that everyone agrees are accurate.

We are so f@cked.

Paul could have actually had a positive influence.

Had he gotten behind RR; with the understanding “we will be holding you accountable”; he might have done something other than functioned as a sideshow.

Paul would probably make a great Treasury Secretary if given freedom to go through the Fed Reserve.

Other than that, he could keep his opinions on foreign policy to himself.

Ron Paul is right.

I voted for neither Romney nor Obama.

Because it would make little difference in the short run and no difference in the long run.

But you can't have a budgetary solution if you don't change what the role of government should be. As long as you think we have to police the world and run this welfare state, all we are going to argue about is who will get the loot."

It's come to this. I can only work with what I can control - less of MY loot going into the pot.

Don’t be so silly. I am not a Ron Paul voter, he wouldn’t make a good President, and is right on SOME but not all issues. But he didn’t cost anyone any election. Of course that won’t stop 15 nitwits from screaming about me being a Paulbot...which is about ten miles from the truth. Anyway,If he had wanted to do that, he would have RAN HIMSELF as a 3rd or Libertarian...and he CERTAINLY could have done that. He probably would have matched Perot. But he didn’t.

Fat boy Christie did ten times the damage Ron Paul did...who really didn’t do ANYTHING anyone noticed.

And the reality is, even though I wanted Romney to win, and voted for him, and THOUGHT he was going to win, the GOP establishment is NOT going to do anything to REALLY fix any of these problems. Bush did almost everything OBama is doing, only Obama hit the GAS PEDAL with Nitro to the cliff.

But we were RIDING ON THE BUS TO THE CLIFF ALL ALONG and the GOP didn’t do a THING to stop it.

All of these stupid arguments on cuts that are so SMALL they don’t mean ANYTHING to the big problem. They SOUND big...500 million here or there.

A 500 million dollar cut is like talking about Mark Cuban not eating a freaking taco one day to “save money” he is worth a BILLION dollars and cutting a taco.....really?

So while I wish Romney had one, it really was like putting a bandaid on a slashed artery. Its just no one wants to hear it....and it may NOT be fixable by anyone at this point. The only thing keeping us from Greece now is being the biggest military on Earth....and we see how that turned out for ROME.

If the Republican Party had nominated Ron Paul instead of Mitt Romney, at least a few percent of Obama voters would have voted for Paul instead, and Paul would have won.

Most of the "evil" in the world is right here in our own country.

The white liberal progressive left out of NYC, Chicago, L.A. and the media complex they control is far more dangerous to our future than anything else IMHO

Almost as dangerous as the cowardly republicans who allowed the Usurper to be installed into office.
