Born and raised in Michigan, two degrees from UM. Sorry, but I think the state is a hopeless case. The left-wing nuts may all be confined to the Detroit/Flint axis, but they’re in the majority and always will be. Get out of there and don’t look back. We did, and have never had any regrets. Pretty state, nice people, but owned and operated by union thugs.
Or maybe just go ahead and win and make them take the darn thing!
And yet, in Michigan we have a Republican governor, Repubs hold the Senate 26-12, and the House 64-46.
They could pass Right to Work tomorrow if they wanted.
Good points, I admit. On the other hand, Michigan has two of the very worst U.S. Senators. Sorry to sound so critical — I love Michigan, and am disappointed and heart-sick for our family and friends who still live there (many of whom are out of work).
If Rick Snyder copied Scott Walker and spearheaded making Michigan Right to Work, after all the screaming had died down he would have a lock on the 2016 pres nomination.
A lot of FReepers have this instinctive reaction to talk out of their ass when they speak of Michigan. They may not know what they’re talking about but they know they’re right.
One good thing is the fact that being deserted by our fellow conservatives has created the special forces of conservatism. We fight for every inch and we’re winning behind enemy lines with no hope of resupply.
Rest assured, there will be a reset in our nation, soon, be prepared.
I voted Y, N, N, N, Y, Y on the Mich proposals, and Y, N on the Grand Rapids City props.
Prop 6 didn’t make any mark on my mind until I heard a Demwit relative rant and rave against it. Detroit doesn’t need another effin’ bridge, unless someone wants to cough up the money and collect the tolls. The Canadians apparently want to build it, and won’t approve a second span by the existing bridge because it’s not hooked to their highway system.
It would be interesting to learn which was built first, the existing bridge or the Canadian highway. Sounds like gov’t stupidity in action. :’)
They’re not “our” trash; they moved to MI from other states when those states lowered the boom on free cash years ago.
