Canceled Comcast

Posted on 11/08/2012 8:58:49 AM PST by PHloon

I called Comcast last night and cancelled my cable TV. When the young lady on the phone asked me why I was cancelling it I explained that we just had a change in our financial situation. I told her that my wife and I both work full time and because we have good paying jobs we are now going to have have to pay higher taxes as we are for some reason considered the enemy. I went on to explain that we have fixed expenses such as a mortgage and car payments that we cannot cut. With 4 kids who are rapidly approaching their college years we do not have disposal income. This was just the start as I have to begin preparing now for the reality of the next 4 years.

What I didn't tell the young lady was that there is an added benefit of this change as I will no nonger be sending my hard earned money to to the owner of the hate filled network MSNBC. Any company that allows the lies and distortions to flow night after night from their hosts needs to hear from their customers. The news coverage from NBC over the last few months was incrediably biased with the hosts continually singing the praises of the President while ignoring the deteriorating economy, the scandal in Libya and Obama's Katrina. Nothing new but this time in my own small way I will adjust for our unfortunate economic reality and at the same time hopefuly do my part to send a message to Comcast that a significant portion of this country does not agree with the hate and lies that constantly flow from the NBC properties.

We can “stop the engine of the world” together if we try."""

AGREED: and we do have the POWER, we have the pocketbooks to make it hurt.

I'm in.

I would ditch cable but I like watching sports. There are zero sports broadcasts for me without it. If someone knows an end-around on that I’m all ears.

If the govt wants to deal with a failing economy, and want to increase consumer spending, they’ll have to work on the consumers in the “99%” taker crowd. This “1%’er” producer will be cutting back to make ends meet.

I told my wife that our planned vacation next year to Europe was off the table.

Those in travel and entertainment industry will particularly suffer unless they cater to government employees.

BTW, watch that happen in earnest.......

We stopped the Christmas, Birthday crap many years ago.

Don't even buy cards, on Birthdays, Anniversarys, Mothers day, etc........

We simply go to the Drug Store or whereever, hubby picks out 1, brings it to me, I read it, THEN PUT IT BACK on the shelf. Sometimes I get 2 or 3 cards that way. ROFL.

Christmas gifts: Everyone give out cash, $10 limit. Here's my $10, they give me their $10 envelope in exchange. There gift giving finished, now let's eat. Remember it is the thought that counts.

Same here, in fact we are thinking of downsizing our home as well. We do not need ALL this space that only needs to be continously cleaned.

I'm just not into that anymore.

PS: to ALL: When the last person cancels their CABLE TV service, please contact all the MSN's and FNC, they need to turn out their lights, no one is watching, to bad, so sad. Radio is Free.

I worked for that company, it is the most horrendous place I have ever worked, trust me the on-air personalities of MSNBC are reflective of their companies leadership, canceling Comcast was the right thing, they literally screw their customers, besides they are like GE with regards to ODumba.

YAY One of my favorite topics!

You did it.Wait til you see how you feel so much better,
both mentally and physically after even a few weeks.

There are so many alternatives now too. I did it in 2006.
This is the message our enemies need!!

Its a doable sacrifice and a great way to start GOING GALT!

THAT’S when they win. Don’t let them win.

Netflix CEO big lib huh?

Well, cut back to steaming only. And hopefully, if enough people cancel satellite like I’ve been considering (Costco as well), they will get a whiff and change their ways before it’s too late.

People come door to door sometimes wanting to trim trees, etc. Maybe the answer can be NOBAMA. (sort of Spanish-sounding lingo meaning I am not hiring because Obama took my money).

I think you started a very useful thread. I also think it should be kept alive or another Going Galt type thread needs to be started, where folks can add their cuts, their savings/advantages and ideas.

Most folks are going to need to make cuts, they might as well get ahead of the game.

Thank you! For everyone else; there is this from Ann Barnhardt:

If you do not now understand that the media is enemy number one of you, your family, this culture and of God; if you do not understand that the media is SATANIC, then you are either terminally stupid or you are hopelessly addicted to the satanic filth, agitporn and lies yourself. Pick up the phone, call the cable or satellite company and TURN THE SHIT OFF NOW. Oh, and by the way, I found out how much you are paying for each cable channel. It is roughly $0.12 per month per channel. I saw this figure in a recent story about Algore's Stalinist propaganda channel, Current TV, which they are now trying to sell. Current TV goes into 60 million homes and has annual revenues from their cable and satellite royalties of $86 million. That is $0.12 per subscriber per month. So, you are offering that "pinch of incense" of $0.12 per month (at minimum) for every channel that is included in your cable or satellite package, including the sodomite channel, including MTV, including MSNBC, whether you watch it or not, and even if you block it on your cable box. Your money is still going to these outfits every month, and in doing so you proclaim that "caesar is lord". St. Polycarp, pray for us.

If you are looking for Fox News on your computer, try www.TVPC.com and look at the channel list for the US. There are usually 4-5 links. Not all of them work all the time and some of them will throw an ad at you at odd times. Be sure you have a malware detector in place first. Ditto ESPN, CNN (ugh) and a slew of other channels.

I get Comcast TV to see Fox News mostly. Now the election is over I don’t care so much about dropping cable television and probably will right after Christmas season. Same as I really like Sean Hannity on FoxNews leading up to this election and previous elections. You really get Prime Time Sean. But post election, especially this one, I have to slack off politics for a while

Same with Rush Limbaugh. After any election my listening decreases

Comcast’s CEO golfs with Obama weekly. Comcast employees donated more to Obama’s reelection campaign than any other company. I cancelled my Comcast cable seven months ago when I found this out.
