As we all know, Barack Obama has been re-elected for a second term. Right about now, Republicans need to ask themselves, “What went wrong?” How could Obama have won? His track record was abysmal. The economy is tanking, unemployment continues to rise, civil government debt has reached a level from which we will probably never be able to recover, foreign relations in the Middle East have only become more treacherous… On almost every issue upon which Obama campaigned, he has proven worse than his predecessor. Yet he has been elected for a second term. Why?
Let’s look at the numbers. The race was almost split 50/50. Obama got less than one percent of the votes more than Mitt Romney. Of interest, libertarian Gary Johnson got right at one percent. Gary who? Right. How did a guy with almost no presence during the primaries get one percent of the votes? The only other Libertarian to get this much traction was Ed Clark in 1980 with 1.1 percent. But this wasn’t so much a victory for the Libertarian Party as it was a loss for the GOP. How did Gary Johnson get so many votes? Ron Paul. Sorry, but that’s just the truth.
Most disillusioned Ron Paul supporters chose either to not vote, to vote for Gary Johnson, or to write in Ron Paul even though such a vote would be largely symbolic. But before you start talking about how lame Ron Paul fans are, let’s really assess this issue.

It’s time conservatives split from the Republican Party. Look at the last three losers....all “moderates.” Who can get excited about a moderate? I smell Jeb Bush waiting in the wings, who would be Loser #4.
The problem is starting the primaries in New Hampshire and Iowa, both Democrat states. They haven’t supported the Republican nominees since Reagan, yet they get to greatly influence the choice of the probable nominee.
Here is what should be done. The states with the highest percentage of Republican votes in the presidential election just concluded should have the first primaries. Percentages haven’t been published yet, but probably OK would be first and Texas would be second. That would get the nomination off to a Republican start anyway.

Has it ever occurred to you that you're part of the reason TEA party and limited government conservatism is still losing? You have a wrong-headed but self-gratifyfing template of the "libertarian" as "stoner/loser" just exactly as the MSM has a wrong-headed self-gratifying template of the "Republican" as cold-hearted ignorant redneck.
Both of your posts here tell zero about libertarians, but a whole hell of a lot about your own ignorance and pig-headed prejudice, how you are willing to see conservatism go down the tubes entirely before admitting that you're WRONG about libertarianism.

Yeah, probably between voter fraud, and illegal immigrant votes, we lost it.

Romney said he would get a border secure within his first year as President and he also was business wise probably the best candidate in this country to have as President to get us straight away from a financial cliff.
The electorate has changed, most said Romney was the best guy for the economy and then voted Obama in for the free stuff they get.
The electorate went from what is best for the country to what they perceived is best for them personally.
That is the bottom line, and all those who split the vote or who stayed home because they thought they were so pure deserve zero respect and if there is a hell, they earned it some last night.
1. Political speech on discussion boards was too often allowed to be insulting, vulgar, threatening and generally trashy. There’s nothing conservative about that.
2. There were too many calls from government regulators, government teachers and other local recipients of federal government funding (all who spy and gossip against families and private property rights) for stopping the food stamp program (to divert the funds to government regulators, all). There’s nothing conservative about that, either.
Upscale commies/socialists, if you want “sustainable” revenues, get out of the way of new, small manufacturing starts in your own locales, and stop pushing candidates who promise even more jobs for your big government wishes. The food stamp program, presently large, costs about 10% of the deficit. Commies who mind their neighbors’ business (including government-linked business and pensioners: eyes and ears of the political/regulator class) are costing us our whole nation.
Assuming Romney actually would have done something about the border (based on past republican pols he wouldn’t). The real issue is LEGAL massive non-white immigration. It wouldn’t matter if all legal and non legal immigration stopped today. The die has already been cast.
Add to that a systematic process of Marxist political indoctrination by academia, teacher unions and the media for the past 50 years.
