Boehner: Focus on ‘common ground’ to help avert fiscal cliff (DON'T COMPROMISE, LET IT CRASH!)

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will deliver a statement Wednesday afternoon on the need for both Republicans and Democrats to find some agreement to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff — a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts that are scheduled for 2013.

Boehner's office said he would call on both sides to seek "common ground" to help the economy and create jobs, which in turn would help reduce the national debt.

Boehner is scheduled to speak at 3:30 p.m. in the Capitol. He'll speak just hours after Republicans maintained their hold on the House of Representatives.

Leaders from both parties have expressed optimism that finding cooperation on the fiscal cliff would be somewhat easier post-election. But Tuesday's vote essentially cemented in place the federal government that has wrangled over these issues for the past two year and failed to find common ground.

Boehner is a dead man walking.

The enemy is Obama.

If he doesn't compromise with the enemy, then he and that "Tea Party" house will be made the scapegoats sending the nation over the fiscal cliff and chances are he will lose the house albeit honorably fighting the enemy to his political death.

If he compromises, then he will get NO CREDIT from anyone and go down dishonorably because those who have supported the Republican cause have no enthusiasm for those who have made concessions to the enemy.

Its up to you Johnny boy to write your own political epitaph, your lost the house fighting honorably or you lost the house by appeasing the common enemy.

You read my mind! How did you do that?

Hey-—I’m a Texan—I don’t even know anyone in New England—LOL!

Personally, I think it’s time to close all Texas borders, kick all the liberals out, and form our own country. Legend says we can do this—but it make take some doing....

If the roles were reversed the Dems would be using the bully pulpit of the house
to throw every bill they could at the Pres and Senate. No matter who has the MSM
in their pocket, the House is the House and the Repubs for the last two years have
not used one single bully to achieve any agenda.

If Boehner wants to cave then he should step aside and allow someone else to
take command for the rough seas ahead. Boehner was Drunk again last night BTW,
and also Drunk at the convention, plastered DRUNK!!!

Hey Boehner, Compromise works both ways you Drunk POS, and if you go with the Democrats
there will be no difference and no more reason for voters to Vote Republican.

Pass 20 bills a week and put them up on the INTERNET. Ever heard of that Boehner, the INTERNET?
Or are you to slobbering drunk to pay attention due to your cushy job.

Would someone please explain what happens to ordinary people in the next two years if we go over the cliff?

How does life change other than more taxes?

Remember what happened in Russia just prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union? Or are you aware of what is going on in Greece right now?

Yeah... That is what lies ahead of us. Sooner rather than later...

First, the gubermint checks will stop, and then dependent class will either starve where they sit or burn the cities to the ground.

Acquiring salable or barter-able skills sounds like very good advice for a young person. Trouble is, I am old, my working days are pretty much over. I'm not going to be able to go out and be a welder, or carpenter, or logger. Almost everything I have is tied up in two things, my home, and a retirement nest egg that is invested in securities. Why? Because I worked all my life and I took the advice of people who said they knew. My parents always said, own your home. And "financial experts" said, put your money in the markets where it can "grow". Well, we see how those things worked out, and are likely to continue their crash as the country goes down the road of Fabian socialism that it is on.

I will tell you what my thoughts are now and perhaps people here reading this can give me their opinions. What I want to do now is get this house in decent shape to sell, get my assets in more liquid form, then maybe find a little place on the beach in a place like South Carolina where I can throw a few lines in the water and have a fresh catch every day for dinner. Is that a cop out? I don't know, maybe. But I am just very, very tired, and very depressed.

Yup. First thing I saw after the election was a piece that the libs are going to put together a protest against the XL pipeline coming anywhere in the states.

Don't worry people. It'll crash and burn. THey'll raise taxes ... and they'll squander it, then they'll borrow more.

My prediction ... 4 yrs from now gas $6/gal and debt $25 trillion.

I figure it'll break down at that point of its own accord.

I remember Bamster stated emphatically and dismissively that the sequester “wasn’t going to happen” in one of the debates. Boehner should take him at his word and quote that to the news media every day, while he holds his ground on taxes and spending. Every day.

Separately, the Republicans need to keep Obama hamstrung fighting scandals for the next 4 years. Benghazi is a good place to start. And start another one at the same time. There must be plenty of real scandal-worthy dirt on this guy, if the Republicans will just grow a spine. C’mon Issa, start using the courts to kick info out of these clowns.

Whatever Bonehead has to say in public to keep the cameras happy, the GOP in the House needs to become not that party of “no”, but the party of “HELL NO!”

Treat Democrats as Democrats have treated Republicans. Ignore the howls of trumped-up outrage.

How does life change other than more taxes?

After the cliff? After the cliff taxes will be meaningless.

People talk about how much is owed by the US govt to China, but in truth thats only a small part.

Most of the borrowed $$$ are owed to American citizens. So lots of people are going to go broke and LOTS of small - med businesses are going to bankrupt.

Food, gas and other day to day necessities are going to be unaffordable to most because we only have a 30 day supply on hand and most of their cost is in transportation or the fuel to grow them. Gas is gonna skyrocket making EVERYTHING unaffordable.

Chaos after that.

Hope I'm wrong. But think that's a pretty accurate scenario.

Oh. It starts with the military budget. They’ll suck that absolutely dry. The 47% isn’t going to let the flow of their stuff stop because of the need for a military.
