Legalized Pot and Homosexual Marriage

Posted on 11/06/2012 10:11:53 PM PST by TigerClaws

Gay marriage passed in Maine and Maryland. Close in Washington and Minnesota.

CO voted to legalize weed. Washington too.

Maybe what you don’t understand is that, since the 1960’s, the radical left has ensured that the “social issues” are forever intertwined with the political issues.

They made it that way, not we, by legislating morality.

You need to understand that we cannot give up those issues and expect to “win,” in either sense of the word (winning political issues and winning by spreading conservative principles.)

They are intertwined. And I, for one, am going focus more on the social issues than ever before, because I don’t want our side “to win,” if it means turning our back on God’s teaching and conservative principles and traditional morality.

We are losing the economic battle in this country because we are afraid to engage the conservative argument, which is the stronger, more irrefutable argument, on all the issues, including the social issues.

Spoken like a true liberaltarian.

Well, liberaltarians, who are joined with the left on the social issues, helped to put the communist back in the White House.

Moral decline and societal decadence is everyone’s business.

The only part I’d disagree with is that I agree with CS Lewis that humanity does have a religious blueprint. We deviate from that through societal mores, legislation, etc. But I do believe the blueprint is there. The particular religious beliefs, tenets, and the morality and ethics of a culture as an offshoot of its predominant religion need to be taught and maintained, but I do believe the seed is already there.

Thinking your tagline nails it. May my thinking be wrong. Was wrong about a landslide for our side, so the odds increased of could be wrong. New taxes are coming for all of us though, it does appear.

you mean anyone can go to CO and buy? It would probably require ID and anyone from out of state would be prohibited.

You can vote for legal weed all you want but if the President doesn’t support it, it’s too bad for you.

One thing I know: legalized pot and gay marriage has ZERO effect on my life

I think that's incorrect. They change, drag down, the culture in which my children live and make it more dangerous. Cultures are proven in the petrie dish of time. This venture will be proven virulent....again. As it has been so proven for millennia and rejected again and again. We're just too dumb to realize that the reason they are rejected has a basis in experience and fact from generations prior that we have forgotten.

Good on ya.

The overriding issue of course is the FED. Will the State of CO be able to tell the FED to stop the WOW in CO? CA went the medical route and has shown no ability or desire to stop the Federal WOW. So Federal raids on legitimate CA business has been the result, and will surely harm incentive to grow and distribute what in state might be legal, but for Federal law.

Moral decline and societal decadence is everyone’s business.

And just who, pray tell, is the arbiter of what constitutes "moral decline" or "societal decadence"? Let's build a time machine and bring back those people who thought women showing their ankles in public was a sign of moral turpitude. Or better yet, let's get some mullahs from the Taliban to show us the way to moral and societal perfection.

And since marijuana is such a nice drug, you’ll be okay with your child’s school bus driver smoking a joint before getting behind the wheel, right? I mean, it’s none of your business. Oh, and if your child’s surgeon smokes a doobie before driving to the hospital to perform live saving surgery on that child, well, geez, it’s none of your business, right?

What in the hell is wrong with you?

You are committing the logical fallacy of anachronistic thinking.

Who ever said that cultural values don’t change?

Yes, showing your ankles used to be socially unacceptable.

But this standard was challenged and now we have women “lactivists” and others, showing their breasts in public.

We have people engaging in sex in public spaces just because they think they can.

If you don’t think that there has been a huge moral decline since the says of the hidden ankle and now, then you and I are irreconcilably opposed to one another. Because I believe our cultural morality has gone down the crapper.

In order to get it back, we need to lift the bar a bit. Even if that means being considered a prude or being snickered at by others.

You are falling for the trap of the moral relativists, which is to argue, no one should/can determine what is “right,” therefore, there is no such thing as “right,” therefore, anything is “right.”

That is how we got where we are today.

If you want to continue down that path, go right ahead.

But I don’t. So when decadence and immorality is being praised, I will object to it.

change marriage then it can be applied to any kind of marriage.

The ignroant can say they do not care about anal sex but the fact is that it is not about marriage it is a bigger picture which tells the church, others, schools etc to accept this anal strap on sex.

I wish those ignorant idiots which state they have no problem with homo marriage woudl stop being ignorant on the matter and look at the bigger agenda

Federal Law or whichever is the more strict statute, takes priority.

Under the Constitution unless the law is under the purview of the Congress the above is unconstitutional. Federal law cannot take priority over those who are responsible for the power of the Federal Govt. that being the states themselves.

That doesn’t mean in today’s world the fed won’t demand that the people and the states bow to their demands, nevertheless, it is unconstitutional so what else is new.

You do realize that, under our current drug laws, most of the Founding Fathers would be shot, imprisoned, or otherwise villainized.

The original stars and stripes and even early American currency was made from hemp.
