In response to widespread reports that voters displaced by Hurricane Sandy havent received their email and fax ballots on Election Day, the state has extended the deadline for voters to return those ballots to county clerks to 8 p.m. Friday.
About 2,000 email and fax ballot applications have yet to be processed by the Hudson County Clerks Office, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey, which is seeking a court order to force the state to allow displaced voters to cast ballots using a federal absentee balloting program.
Substantial backlogs also exist in Bergen, Essex and Middlesex Counties, the group said.
We are talking about thousands, if not tens of thousands, of voters being affected. Its a real significant problem, said Alex Shalom, the ACLUs policy counsel.
Under a new directive released this afternoon from Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, displaced voters and first responders seeking to cast their ballots by email or fax need to apply for the ballots by at their county clerks office by 5 p.m. today.

Ok 2k votes, no big deal. If they stretch it into 200,000 votes,,whoa!
Christie teared up when he hugged Springsteen. Fat Boy is a whimp. He talks big then folded like a cheap empty suit at the first crisis. He panicked. Hes probably been holding those tears since Sandy hit and when he was touched by Springsteen he just couldnt hold them in. I bet he wears pink panties.
So, Coulter, what do you think of your boy now? Why dont you introduce him to your friend Bill Mahr. But bring some tissues cause Christie will really lose it if Bill hugs him.
Jay Severin confronted Coulter with this news about her honey-pie on the Blaze earlier...she wasn’t very happy.
+1
I hope the skinny bee-atch hyperventilates and passes out. Exactly what did Severin say and what was her response?
The Congress may determine the time of choosing the electors, and the day on which they shall give their votes; which day shall be the same throughout the United States.
3 USC §1:
The electors of President and Vice President shall be appointed, in each State, on the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November, in every fourth year succeeding every election of a President and Vice President.
Extending the election? Sorry. That is utter bull$h!t!!!
No such critter as a “federal” election beyond the setting of the date (first Tuesday after the first Monday every four years). After that, the rules for running the election are at the state level, e.g. some states requiring ID by law, others not.
Severin led the interview with the info re: Christie and Springsteen...she was quiet for a minute; then asked if it was verified. Severin said that it was true, and she replied that she would have to re-assess her support for Christie, and that she was ‘disappointed’. (I’m going from memory, here.) It will be interesting to see what she had to say about Christie next time the subject comes up...
