I have Comcast and have had no trouble loading FR from my desktop. However when I use my tablet it does take a REALLY long time to load a page and if I post something the wait is hopeless.

Don’t know exactly what that means but there it is.

Maybe Valerie Jarrett is making good on her revenge threat a couple days early.

Member since before you had to register, and it's been a constant problem here. I also believe this latest revision of the software has been the most FUBAR of all the versions I've seen. I wish John could just roll back to the previous version of a year or so ago.

Smaller text less bandwidth user?

All joking aside, I do not mind a momentary slowdown and am thankful for all of FR's efforts.

Jim, If your site does go down, please feel free to join us for the evening on www.gopbriefingroom. We are a conservative site.

This is a very important night and mystery-ak and I welcome you and our FRiends, if only for the night, to join us!

Not trying to steal members, just want to celebrate obama's demise with FRiends!

If you are up, we will post here too! We hope it is a glorious night for our side!

I have found that, if you experience non-response, just cancel the operation (click the “X” at the top), and then try again. The second time, it almost always works quickly.

Of course, you shouldn’t do this when posting, this technique will always result in multiple posts.

Prayers for you and yours. Thank you both for all you have done over the years. Thank you for all of your hard work on this website and for helping us all learn that we are not the only conservatives out there. You united us, you brought us together and you help us unite in purpose and spread the message that is the only hope of salvation for our Constitutional rights.

Whatever happens with this forum, you have our thanks.

it might very well be something with your computer causing the problem.

Bull crap. I am having the same problem and always with FR and no other site. Perhas Jim should go subscription only and upgrade the servers to provide optimum service and cut out the non subscribers who tie everything up.

I waited for 2 minutes for this to post before I hit the stop button and tried again. Who knows how long it will take this time?

Ads mean advertisers which means the leftists have pressure points to apply against people/comments they don’t like. It opens FR up to being at the mercy of complainers.

Thanks for this thread. I’ve been here since 1998, and I fondly remember watching plenty of elections via FR Live Threads. I’ve pretty much given up on the idea of following the results here this year, but I sure hope the new year (and new administration) will mean smoother sailing for us.

There are probably several reasons for the problem:

1. FR is a premium site for tracking the election as well as seeing results.

2. This election is driving a lot of people crazy. Millions of us work for or own businesses that depend on a strong economy and a strong middle class. If Zero wins we are scr3wed. If Romney wins we have a good shot at getting back the huge amounts of money we have invested and the time we have put into our businesses.

3. There may be a whole lot more people trying to get on than Jim can count.

4. If you want to change how FR works, donate.

I’m in Minnesota, at lunch time ie Explorer takes 5-10 min to get to the comments page. Firefox seems to be 10 times faster, but still painfully slow. I only take 1/2 hour for lunch, so I get to Freep for 10-15 minutes on a good day. Thinking I’d rather eat than surf.

I use IE with slowww response time getting to things-since last week. This is what I have found out works - mash that F5 - refresh key.
(The box by the top line that USED to do refresh, does not seem to work anymore.)

I find sites with mainly writing is far better than those others with all the ads and pics - being nearly impossible.

For the ads and pics ones, I do the F5 thing a few times till I see it starting. Then I put away that window - for a longggggggggg time, before I go to see if it did connect - generally eventually it does connect.

For the words kind like FR, I just keep mashing that F5, watching at the bottom of that screen to see that it says something like WAITING FOR - to be sure what I am doing is getting noticed.
When it has not yet appeared and everything has stopped, says DONE, I mash some more.

FR comes up pretty quick for me now doing that. Of course, doing POSTs takes a bit of doing. I do like Jim says, if I dont see it return to me after post - sometimes it does, other times not - get up another window at that thread or my list of posts, to see if it was taken.

Sometimes I click on the pull down of just-done links, to see what it thinks I have done - and click there on what I want —> top left by the circles for forward-back and then the down arrow.
This is how I avoid fooling with the post page AFTER I have posted - according to 2nd window of FR.

Well, it looks like I was wrong (like that’s never happened before, LOL).

My use of IP address (209.157.64.200, as urged for all in my previous post) instead of FreeRepublic.com URL stopped working, and what’s worse, when it did work, FR didn’t recognize me, forcing me to log in again.

UGH, I thought I had found the magic secret to a fast FR - waaaaahhh.

I think I’m gonna leave this to the experts, John and Jim.
Afterall, they have always fixed FR when ever a problem occurs.

All I want to know is WHO keeps breaking the internet, (not I, heheh).

Thank you Jim and John for FR and all you do.
