WADESBORO, N.C. Voters in Anson County had to wait an hour longer to cast their ballots Saturday morning, after copper thieves cut internet lines at the countys only early voting site.
Thieves stripped 16 air conditioning units of copper at the Anson County Schools administration office in Wadesboro, doing $180,000 - $200,000 worth of damage, according to interim Wadesboro Police Chief Thedis Spencer.
Totally taken apart -- compressors gone, pieces of copper wiring gone, just really taken aback, said interim elections director Steve Adams. He showed up early to set up the polls, only to find police in the parking lot and A/C units stripped bare.

$200,000.00 for 16 air conditioners? Really?
True. We’ve had copper thieves (and worse types of criminals) all across this country, thanks to Obama.
Anson County is a very heavy area of the poorest Obama type.
I’ve seen similar antics in several African nations.
Bronze plaques are disappearing from historical monuments and buildings all over the country. Bronze grave urns are stolen everywhere.
The famous bells that lined hundreds of miles of Californias El Camino Real long ago disappeared. The bells were inscribed, "El Camino Real 1769-1906," the dates reflect the founding of the first Mission in 1769 and the dedication of the first bell in Los Angeles on August 1906. The plan had been to place one bell along each mile of the El Camino Real Highway. By 1913, a goal of 450 bells was reached.
Isn't it interesting that our nation was rich enough in the early part of the 20th century to place these historic bronze markers along every mile of a 450 mile road. But 80 years of the massive welfare state have caused the nation to become so morally impoverished that such monuments are stripped bare by welfare bums.
As close to a job as they'll ever have - with or without him in office.
Correct me if I am wrong. But I am fairly sure a A/C condenser is made mainly of aluminum. The motor for the fan and compressor would have copper in them however.
Builder grade, yes. Premium grade, no. I have exclusively copper in my new heating and cooling systems.
